Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe single bad in the family room was not clean, there were several different types hairs on the sheet. My son was not happy. The bathtub also had some hair. Breakfast could have been better.
We made our reservation at the last minute and the host was very nice and accommodating. The old building had nice character and the grounds around the pool were beautiful.

FranceThe hot water in the bath was exceptionally slow and although the linens were of a high quality the furniture in the bedroom didn't seem to match the same quality. Maybe a matter of taste.
The building itself was very beautifully renovated as a whole. The dining room was very tastefully done and the breakfast plentiful. The surroundings, garden and pool, were clean and very well kept. The front door was an amazing feature and parking was very easy and safe. The local restaurant recommended by our host was really good.

United StatesUpon arrival the man “greeted me” with a frown. He was surly and brusk. After verifying that I had a reservation in this small town, he quickly handed me the keys, showed me how the front lock was done, and said the other key is for your room. After this he quickly went away. Never offering “welcome”. Or let me show you or grounds. Or anything. So it was up to me to find where the pool was and see the garden in back. Which was pretty. I found that they close the pool at night. At 9:30 the next morning we went to swim and the pool was covered. I couldn’t find the man. Luckily we found a woman- she was nice and accommodating and kindly opened the pool for us. We checked out soon after. Not much of a stay. But after being in a car, driving for 8 hours to get to this gite which I was really looking forward to, to be greeted my a man with a put upon attitude was so disappointing. Also, he never told us WiFi info either. I wrote to the email contact upon arrival is he couldn’t be found, and no one c ever answered my questions. Oh well. Btw, I was in this small town for work that evening.
I theory most of the elements are in place for a lovely stay. The room was clean, comfortable, nice size, and there are lovely cats on the property. The pool was delightful.

FranceWhere to start? The location is not that easy to get to by car, and when we arrived around 17.30 we had to call the property to be let in. After a minute, a rather angry looking man (the owner) unlocked the front door. As my wife’s sister accompanied us, he immediately stressed that we only booked the room for two people. I explained to him, in French, that it was my wife’s twin sister, and that she (obviously) wasn’t staying with us for the night. I then asked him if the pool was open, as we liked a swim in the morning. He didn’t feel the need to inform us of the opening hours, which gave us a surprise the following morning (I’ll get to that). Apart from a (dirty) pair of knickers hanging on the window in the bathroom and a dirty coffee table in the room, everything seemed to be fairly clean. There was a kettle in the room, but if you like more than one coffee/tea, remember to bring extra supplies. Next morning at around nine, and as we passed the reception area with towels around our necks, the owner appeared and asked us if we were going swimming in the pool. As I confirmed, again in French, that this was indeed our intention, he informed us in his rude manner (which we should be used to by now, and which made us wonder if we’d done anything to offend the poor man)) that the pool was closed until 10.30, and that we should know this as it was clearly stated on booking.com and in the room’s information folder. So dear future guest(s), if you’re only staying for one night make sure you use the pool in the afternoon upon your arrival (check in is after 15.00), as there won’t be time the following day before you have to check out at 11.00. Anyhow, it gave us more time to enjoy the breakfast, which was okay, but certainly not worth the additional cost of ¢11 per person. We live a couple of hours by car from this gorgeous area/town, and will hopefully visit Prades many more times - but we won’t be staying at Domaine de la Tannerie.
The room and the bathroom were spacious and the location was quiet. The charming town center was within walking distance. There was free parking across from the property entrance.
