Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesDoor from elevator to hallway needs key. Shower splashes water onto the floor.
Great location, near main square and river, easy access to the old town and Metro. Lots of (mostly pricey) shops nearby. Good breakfast, extra charge.

CanadaI loved how cozy the hotel was - it seemed like an old hotel but the interiors were renovated and super confortable. The highlights: the buffet breakfast and the pillows.

Breakfast was an additional 14 euros each and while simple was very tasty.

United StatesThey didn’t provide a face cloth. Luckily, I bring my own since I prefer washing with one. And the room would be small for more than one person or if you plan to remain in the room a lot.
I had a courtyard room which allowed a lot of light in. The towels were nice and fluffy. Staff were welcoming, helpful and kind. The location surprised me. It’s surrounded by the upscale shopping district! I found a nice, casual, reasonable around the corner, too, for lunch and dinner.

United KingdomBetter explanation about how to find our room would have been helpful! Behind a heavy and unmarked door. Batthroom a little small.
Nice little hotel near to old town and with lots of things to see within walking distance. Grocery stores, shops, cafes, restaurants and bars nearby. On first floor above shops but with small lift (not for the claustrophobic). Room clean and comfortable.

United KingdomBreakfast was quite expensive for a limited selection of meats, cheeses and pastries. There was the option of a boiled egg if you wanted something hot. There was no view from our room, just a wall outside.
The room was small but comfortable and very quiet. There were plenty of convenient plug sockets. Reception staff were very helpful and accommodating. Shower pressure was excellent. The old town and Presqu'ile were within 10 minutes walk, very convenient.

IrelandThe room we had was small. Very limited as to where to put our suitcases and clothes. Still, it had all we needed.
The hotel was idealy located close to everything you need such as restaurants, bars and places of interest. The staff were excellent. The rooms were very clean and were well maintained everyday.

United KingdomRoom 23, size is tiny, to the point that to access the window side of your bed you have to crab sideways along the foot and side of the bed. Nicely appointed with some character furniture, the shower room was a good size with new/modern fittings. All very clean, apart from main room light above the bed. If it is a concern state on booking, becasue there are standard doubles that are no issue size wise on same floor.
The Hotel is in a superb location in 2nd arrondissement, easy walking distance to Bellacour metro, shops and eating options. From the room window you have a lovely view of the Theatre and up to Basilique Notre-Dame de Fourvière in Vieux Lyon...

SwitzerlandExcellent location in the centre of the city, 2 min walk from the Place Bellcour and all the attractions of the city centre - parking under the place Bellcour if required - only very busy street parking near the hotel itself. Old building with very narrow staircase (reasonable sized lift is available). Good continental breakfast with the possibility to boil eggs. Very friendly and accommodating staff, modernised rooms with comfortable bed (and pillows!) and modern well-equipped bathroom. Overall very good experience.

United KingdomHôtel des Célestins was exactly as we hoped – clean, comfortable, friendly and full of character. The staff could not have been more helpful or more accommodating and the location was perfect, just a few minutes’ walk from Bellecour Metro station and its easy access to the airport. We had a fantastic view of the nearby Théâtre des Célestins, as well as the famous Basilica of Notre Dame of Fourvière, perched on its hilltop above the city. Breakfast was very good and the coffee excellent.
