Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceDownside is that it is opposite the municipal prison and the swimming pool was unavailable. If you have mobility problems, there are a lot of stairs and no lift.
Magnificent late 19th century house, with a real sense of history. Great views f the mediaeval city from our spacious room. Elegantly served breakfast with a very agreeable and helpful hostess. Location an easy walk from both the mediaeval cite and the Bastide. Good to have secure parking on site.

United KingdomNothing , there are plenty of mirrors , though I would suggest that a full length mirror may be useful
I loved the house and personal service the Marianne and her husband gave to us , nothing was too much trouble and from arranging return taxis to making us feel we were in a home from home. It was a refreshing change to have breakfast served rather than buffet style . Property is well located and within easy reach of shops restaurants and bars.

United StatesThe owner Marianne is very warm and helpful. When we arrived at non-office hour, she was very flexible checking us into the hotel and also provide great recommendation for food and the places for us to visit . The room has fantastic view - facing the castle. The breakfast has different variety in the beautiful dining room. Thanks Marianne and Stephane for providing a wonderful place for us @Carcassone

FranceWould have preferred a Queen-size bed. Singles are ok, but not so comfortable for couples.
Beautifully mansion from 1880 updated, very nice bathroom, excellent breakfast, welcoming for dogs and a large fully enclosed garden.

United StatesWe were honored to stay in this historic, well furnished home. Every room and view was a visual and interesting delight. Upon our arrival, they accepted our early arrival as we had reservations to tour the Carcassonne castle and ramparts. Stefan was quick to confess that their house had been STRUCK BY LIGHTNING the previous day, which sabotaged their electrical capacity, including the wireless service. The fact they were able to power fans and prepare a beautiful breakfast were remarkable under the circumstances! Our room was outstanding--the bedding and wallcoverings superior and luxurious. We trooughly enjoyed our short stay.

United KingdomThere is nothing I didn’t like about the property- even though they had electrical issues caused by a recent storm which meant that the air conditioning wasn’t working in the room while we were there, the hosts went out of their way to make us comfortable, purchasing fans to help cool the room down.
The property was beautiful with a lovely garden and pool and in a fantastic location near the old town.

United KingdomIt would have been nice to have one double mattress instead of two singles but otherwise everything was great.
An excellent location for exploring both parts of the city. The pool area was a lovely quiet oasis to escape to and relax. The owners were very hospitable proving advice. The house is full of character with different areas to relax in outside. It’s also an added bonus to have parking - we didn’t use our car for the 3 days we were there. The rooms have a small kitchenette with tea, coffee, fridge, hob and oven which we didn’t use with so many restaurants near by but a nice feature to have.

United KingdomFabulous old house, just a 10 minute walk to the old city of Carcassonne. Lots of nice restaurants and bars close by on the way. Our loft apartment had an amazing view of the walled city. Check in very straight forward. We were met by the charming Marianne and shown our rooms and gave some great restaurant recommendations. Room very well appointed and comfy beds. Air con was very welcome with the summer heat. The beautiful pool in the garden at the rear was an oasis after a day of sightseeing. Despite being struck by lightning during a brief thunderstorm, the electrics were mostly up and running a few hours later and did not spoil our stay. No wifi for a short while was quite good for our teenagers! Marianne and Stephane were superb hosts.

AustraliaHonestly, we had the best experience for the start of our trip. We loved everything.
Our room was beautiful, the place was lovely, and we had a wonderful two days and even enjoyed the pool while we were there. Marianne was a wonderful host, and shared with us places to visit and restaurants to be enjoyed. She was most welcoming and provided exceptional service with breakfast included. We would go back and enjoy her hospitality again. Great location to visit the Carcassonne - everything was in walking distance. Marianne reached out to us before we arrived to confirm everything.
