Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFront door slams shut, could hear this from our room from very early in the morning. Guests leaving very early to go on excursions were very noisy and leaving their car engines running outside while they prepared to leave. Not the hotels fault but they could ask guests to be more considerate.
Great location with parking. Very helpful friendly staff. Beautiful building.

United StatesThere really was nothing negative.
From check in to check out the staff was friendly and accommodating, having onsite parking was a great bonus, the view from our room was wonderful, the back court yard was a lovely quite place to sit and have a drink and lunch, the breakfast buffet was fresh and well prepared. Fredrick the owner and his staff were more than willing to assist their guest's whether it be making arraignments for transportation to the train station or dinner reservations.

United Statesthe only thing and it's minor, is having an elevator would be helpful (lots of stairs) and also AC for the summer months. it wasn't too bad if you could open the windows but then the bugs come in. again, these are minor issues, at least for me. they were huge issues for my mother, which is why she changed hotels. but if you love historical, character properties you will love this place as i did.
what a gem of a hotel in Bayeux! the staff were so accomodating - especially when my elderly mother decided to change hotels because she's used to modern luxury properties. i ended up staying while they moved to another hotel and loved it so much. i stayed in a double room in the main building with a wonderful view of the town. The breakfast was 15 euros and totally worth it - buffet style with everything you could possibly require. The dining room was elegant or you could opt to eat in the lovely garden if the weather allowed (it did for me one morning and i enjoyed it so much). those roses were some of the most beautiful i've ever seen! parking is plentiful, free and convenient and the town of Bayeux was delightful. I wish we had more than 2 nights. I appreciated having a television in the room because i love the white noise and also learning French that way is fun :)

FranceThe room we were allocated, although comfortable, was on the third level of a separate wing accessed across the courtyard and car parking area, which could be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. It also meant we had to dash through the rain showers when going for breakfast.
Impressive looking building in central location giving easy access to restaurants, museums, etc. Onsite covered parking. Good breakfast with hot and continental options. Elegantly decorated breakfast room.

United StatesNo complimentary coffee/tea in the morning.
Hotel was conveniently located and staff was very gracious and accommodating. The grounds were so beautiful...loved sitting in the garden area. The only suggestion I would make is that coffee/tea is included. Also there is no lift so anyone with mobility issues should be aware.

United KingdomThe breakfast was expensive (15 euros each) considering there are a number of good cafe's and boulangeries in easy reach and on arrival there were a number of items that had run out. These were replaced but it took 15 mins just to get a cup of hot water which seemed unreasonable. We did not re-book breakfast on the 2nd day and would recommend going to another nearby cafe in the city.
The room, hotel and surroundings were lovely. We were told on the first night that the hotel provided bar snacks but the following night another member of staff contradicted this. Not a major problem but we changed plans and had to eat elsewhere.
