Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNo tea/coffee making facilities (but coffee shop on site).
Cool, minimalist feel but comfortable where it matters - comfortable bed, good shower, thoughtful room design. The breakfast and coffee were really good.

United KingdomIt's a modern hostel located right next to Jardin du Luxembourg, with a perfect location. The room is compact but well-designed and has everything you need. I really enjoyed having coffee at the café, and the staff were very friendly. I also appreciated the late check-out time of 12 pm, which is quite rare!

FranceSore back in the morning from the bed. Bathroom sink was awkward to use. Lighting in the room was somewhat inadequate.
Good location, clean and quiet, friendly staff. Whimsical decor is a plus. Bookshop is an interesting addition.

CanadaThey charge 15 euro to hold your baggage until your room is ready for check in. Sound insulation between rooms also seems to be a bit lacking.
Very well located hotel with friendly staff. My single room was tiny but comfortable. Everything was clean and the hotel feels quite hip. The restaurant downstairs was great.

AustraliaMy room was very small with barely enough space to open up my suitcase and still walk around the room. The shower is also very tight and leaked every time I showered. On one occasion the leak was so severe that the water ended up completely flooding the bathroom into the main room and almost in all my luggage. I informed the staff and their suggestion was strangely to “shower with your back to the screen door” as though that was the issue and not the lack of proper seal on the bottom of the screen door. Also with no available fridge or kitchen facilities (neither in room or shared space) it makes it really had to do anything but eat out. Even making a cup of tea was not possible as there is no kettle. I suppose this is to encourage guests to make use of the cafe.
The location was incredible - Luxembourg Gardens practically at your doorstep, lots of transport options and easy walking distance to so many attractions! It was a great place to make my home base for my stay in Paris. The bed was also very plush and comfortable. The coffee shop downstairs is great too, I found the coffee in Paris to generally be quite bad but this coffee shop does a great brew! The staff are a mixed bag - some are really friendly and nice, others are cold and terse in that typical Parisian manner.

GermanyThe shower can easily flood the room. You need to have some towels on the floor to keep the water from spilling into the main room.
What you see is what you get. No bad or good surprises. I remark the good location and the friendly staff. I paid a fair price even during the Olympics time.

Everything! French Theory is a unique, art hotel that has a welcoming feel but a quirky edge and a great restaurant. Love this hotel in a great area of Paris near a very convenient metro line and close to Luxembourg Gardens.

AustraliaThe rooms was really small, this however was perfect for me but for a couple it would be too small to fit bags.
Quaint little hotel in the Latin Quarter, old room but perfect for a solo traveler and felt like I was in Paris, newly renovated bathroom was so beautiful. I booked last minute as all trains to south of France were cancelled that day, it was an easy process and beautiful location, I felt very safe as a solo female.

SwitzerlandThe wifi in my twin room on the first floor was very weak, most of time I couldn’t use it. There’s no fan in the bathroom so after the shower the entire hotel room was quite steamy. It’s Paris city so at 6am there can be garbage trucks which are very loud if you let the windows open. The shower head keeps dropping down in my room. The hotel doesn’t accept Revolut card payment for some unknown reason. (Everywhere else in Paris accepts it.)
French Theory is a cute little hotel located in one of the best districts of central Paris. My stay was perfect, the room was super clean. It offered extremely good price value ratio for Paris city. The twin room felt larger than I had expected. The bed was very comfortable. All of the staff members are very quick to respond to any questions. It is only 3 metro / train stops from Paris Gare de Lyon. It’s 4 mins walk from Luxembourg station. Lots of eateries and bars nearby. Cute independent cinema nearby even offers Chinese movie weeks. The coffee downstairs is of high quality.
