We loved the historical setting of the hotel inside the park of the magnificent Corderie Royale and the hotel itself with its tasteful decor. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent and the staff both in the hotel and in the restaurant were helpful and friendly.

Room was slightly small but enough storage space and lovely decor .

Lovely location near the marina and beside the river. Short walk to the town centre. Hotel is beautifully decorated. Lots of plug sockets. Great walk in shower . It looked brand new. Very good breakfast. Scrambled eggs were delicious.

The lighting in the rooms was a little too bright, and unable to dim. The rooms were also too warm and we couldn’t turn off the heater. The breakfast buffet was overpriced and had too many do it yourself items, like can you just pour us coffee from a carafe instead of having us use a machine. And I wasn’t expecting to hard boil my own egg!

The location was perfect. Right by the Coterie Royals. So lovely to see the river in the morning. Great Napoleon mural in every room.

The restaurant food was bad, sorry but it was ‘grey’ and we all thought it was re-heated and just not good. We were given English menus but the translation was mad - we understood the French version! Try using the App - DeepL “Condiments with the aromas of our ribs” what???

Stayed 2 nights and had a mobile platform. In the area outside repairing/painting windows all day so quite noisy. Confusion in restaurant, we ordered what we thought was a tagliatelle meal for my wife who is allergic to any fish, it came with crabmeat on top. We had misunderstood the menu. The meal had to go back, tha staff were not happy and I had finished my meal when a dish without crabmeat was produced, unfortunately not cooked long enough! Asked for desserts and were given menu with English translations! Had we had this initially there would have been no confusion. However, there were very few staff working in restaurant and they were very busy.

Great location 15 min walk into town along river. Normally a quiet location.

We were particularly impressed by the ladies in reception who welcomed us and very diligently helped us to resolve a couple of issues. They were friendly, good listeners, professional and actively helped when our grand daughter lost a ring in the swimming pool. After searches involving our family and the reception team and the pool expert, the ring was found and returned to our grateful grand daughter. The reception team also took on board the disappointing meal we had in the hotel restaurant and addressed our concerns about the quality of food and the delayed service.

The hotel Mercure in Rocheforrt is very well located, a few minutes walk from the quays and about 10 minutes walk to the main square. The swimming pool is lovely, in a quiet location on the hotel grounds. Breakfast was fine, a good selection of different types of food. The staff were very helpful, speaking fluent English when necessary. They recommended the boat trip to the Isle d'Aix, which was very enjoyable. We enjoyed our stay!

Possibly the first 4 Star property we have stayed in to NOT supply a coffee maker in the room. Paper cups and instant coffee sachets didn't really match the lovely surroundings!

Beautiful location, this hotel is stunning. The décor in Reception and Bar is very tasteful and staff were very friendly and efficient. The Restaurant is ACE - delicious meal well worth a shout-out. Ten minute walk along the estuary to the pretty town of Rochefort. Loved this town! Market Thursday and Saturday; very good selection of shops and bars too. There is also a nice walk around the quai at the front of the hotel. Ideal location for a trip to the Ile d'Oléron.

The rooms seem a bit small, and products proposed in the bathroom limited to bare minimum. What we disliked the most was the food at the restaurant (evening). This is really not doing any good to this place which could otherwise be offering an excellent service from hotel services to restaurant in an exceptional settings. Get your restaurant to a decent standard please. No need to make things fancy when the basic are not covered.

The location is exceptional, very quiet; when you walk in the morning/evening, you are right in the middle of piece of history. The proximity to the Corderie Royale is really what makes this place stands out. The hotel was pet friendly. Breakfast (staff & choice of food offered) was good.
