Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandWe booked Double room in Cheateau, It's written on the website of the hotel as well booking.com that it's 22sq.m. I must say that it was extremely small. 1 small windows in the corner, very small bathroom ( shower+wc together) 1,5-2sq.m. Mattress was comfortable, but the pillows were too big and absolutely not comfortable to sleep on.
Breakfast was good and enough, quite location, beautiful garden, 20min straight walk to the city centre. It has spa, but we didn't test it. Music box in the room. Coffeemashine, 2 coffee capsules, but no coffeecream.

United StatesOur “castle room” was rather small and had slanted ceiling - we had to watch not to bump our heads. When we opened the window, the smell of food from the kitchen filled the room. The shower pressure was very low. There was no body lotion in the room , had to ask at reception- really no excuse for that in a 4 star hotel since most people who travel by plane have to limit cosmetics/ lotions they can bring.
The lobby and garden are very pretty. Nice sun room overlooking the garden and a small pond. The breakfast was good but on our last day they were out of food before 10 am.

United KingdomThe breakfast was very poor. There wasn’t enough food out even though we arrived 30 minutes before the end of service. Staff were walking past the empty food trays and not replenishing them. I had to wait for a spoon and there were no mugs to use for the coffee machine, I had to ask for one.
This was our second stay in a month and we were upgraded to a gorgeous suite overlooking the garden. The room was truly amazing

United KingdomTotal lack of privacy in our room. No net curtains on any window. Surrounded by the main modern hotel it was like being in a fish bowl. Had to keep two large window curtains closed most of the time. The bathroom was unacceptably exposed. Not even curtains to use and very conscious of no privacy when the lights were on. The breakfast was poor. Tables not cleared. Dinner was very average and expensive. My wife’s fish was cold and undercooked. Had to be sent back. This is an hotel with great potential but just falls short on many fronts.
Location & Parking. Room was good size and comfortable.

United KingdomNot much - frequent returner but sadly the staff (or their system) never remember that. The restaurant staff need better training (some new junior staff very poor this visit). It was almost impossible to order drinks for outside
Great location and ambience. Lovely gardens and spa facilities. Restaurant is always good. Clean rooms - modern on one half and transitional French classic ti the chateau. Secure, private parking.

United KingdomNo significant negative observations, and all-round nice hotel.
Very nice property with lovely grounds in a quiet location. Local shops and fast-food, and only a short walk to the tram for a quick journey into the city centre, which is well worth a visit (we were in transit to Bordaeux), and has some great restaurants.

Lovely hotel with large family room, two huge beds separated by the interior tv wall. Very comfortable for us and our two children. A small bonus was the Irish and Australian Olympic rugby teams staying too!

United KingdomParking space was a bit tight.
We had a large balcony suite which was light, newly refurbished, clean and comfortable. There was a very nice special touch for our dog too - a bowl, a chew, a toy and even a poo bag. Welcome was great. Pretty gardens for children to play in while you dine on the terrace. Perfect place for a stop driving through the Loire valley.

United KingdomI had dinner with my family 6 persons. Food was very good and of excellent quality. Wines were reasonably priced and local. My only gripe is that service took a long time. We had 3 courses and waited an hour between each course. Restaurant was not too busy and some courses were cold courses: cold meats, ice cream, cheese. After a long drive a 3 hour meal starting at 2000 is not conducive to a happy guest.
Belmont is a lovely hotel on a large estate. Lots of garden spaces for enjoying the weather and outdoors. Rooms are nicely furnished and larger than a standard box hotel room.
