Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongLoved it all. The only thing I would say is be aware that there are a few stairs. We came with two big and very heavy suitcases. The staff was very helpful and helped us carry them up and down, but retrospectively we probably would have sorted it so we’d just carry up what we needed for that specific stay.
Amazing location! The property is a refurbished old medieval castle. An impressive structure. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They made us feel very welcome. We loved every minute of our stay and even cancelled some of our plans just to spend a bit more time reading on the terrace in the sunshine and enjoying the view and quietness. It’s breathtaking! There’s a gastronomic style restaurant in the castle and the food is absolutely delicious. Try the pulled lamb - it was the best lamb we’ve ever had!!!

Our room was like a medieval castle room and very special with a most fantastic view of the surrounding valley and hills. The dinner was absolutely fantastic and unexpected. Dining of such high level and in a castle environment was truly very special. the breakfast was delicious and generous. the staff was gracious and very helpful. best value for money on this trip by far.

AustraliaThe castle has a fantastic location and view, full of history and very authentic. Staff were lovely and kept our bags after checkout when we went hiking. Room was very comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast at the castle as well. The dinner was good but not amazing considering the price. The breakfast was good value. Overall a great experience and highly recommended.

IsraelTake into consideration that you need to carry your luggage from the parking lot to the room, and there are stairs on the way. Breakfast with no choices, it is fixed by the chef. Check before having it, what they serve. Overall, the + is much bigger than the -, and we had a great stay and warmly recommend this property.
Very special stay at an exceptional place. Real castle, beautiful room, and breathtaking views. Very personal service.

United StatesFine dining can become a bit too much about presentation and aesthetics.
Wonderful atmosphere. The owners are doing a great job of adaptive re-use; preserving the style and feeling of being in a medieval castle, while offering comfortable amenities and fine dining.

United StatesNot much. The chateau is a fair bit off the beaten path, and rather rustic, although we didn’t mind stepping off the tourist track. Meals in the restaurant are expensive, but the staff is sweet and the chef is working hard to earn a Michelin star.
The chateau is located in an extraordinary setting, high above the River valley and village below. The views from the upper terrace are unbelievable. I went up in the night, and could see an expanse of stars. Easy to imagine manning the watch tower several hundred years ago. Room 5 was so cool. With a curved rock wall from the medieval fortress and period-appropriate furnishings, another time-traveling experience. An amazing place.

FinlandThe best food I have ever eaten at a restaurant. Room was extravagantly spacious (39 square meters). Pets were allowed. Staff was capable and extremely friendly. Chateau was lovely with great views. Short distance to Georges du Verdun. Got good guidance for the daytrip. Boulangerie at the village has great cookies

IsraelThe water flow in the shower was a little weak. Dinner was tasty and special but very small dishes. It is possible to eat dinner elsewhere but the road is dark and convoluted.
Very special place, a great view, nice staff, comfortable room. You can get breakfast anywhere you want and have your coffee in front of the amazing view.

United KingdomCould you put insect screens on the bedroom windows as well as the bathroom ones? They are a great idea. The stone steps to get around are a little uneven in places and an extra rope or handrail might be useful.
This is a gem of a place, if a bit off the beaten track. Just go - it is well worth it. And go before it is "found out" or "discovered"! When you first see the hotel from a distance, it is perched on a steep cliff. Once in it, the views do not disapppoint either! The running has been recently taken over by two (if I remember correctly) local people and they are doing a great job. The rooms are tastefully in keeping with the castle, yet also delightfully quirky. We had an excellent meal for dinner with beautifully presented, delicious food.
