Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesVery expensive. Also the restaurant was nice, but not as good as some of the other chateaus we visited.
It's a 13th century chateau in the Loire Valley- what's not to love? The main hotel was booked so we stayed in one of the extra houses on the property and it was quite spacious. The infinity edge pool looked fabulous but it was too cold and rainy for us to use. The gardens are probably quite lovely in peak season but not so much in rainy September.

United StatesWe didn't get to experience the onsite restaurant, which requires reservations, I think guest should be given priority over non-guest.
Charming Chateau in a beautiful setting, we especially enjoyed the large outdoor pool and spacious room. It was refreshing to have an escape from our busy travels at Chateau De Pray, which is in a rural farm setting with horses roaming nearby and the quaint, quintessential town of Amboise only a few miles away, with nice restaurants and shops along the Loire River.

United StatesOnly slight negative would be the shower/tub was a little deep and getting in and out could be difficult for some. We were OK and it didn't bother us.
We had a car and decided to stay outside of Amboise - location was great, easy to locate and plenty of on-site parking. Chateau was fantastic, we had a larger room with a table big enough to serve wine and cheese. It was later in October and with the leaves partially gone we had a view of the Loire, quite nice. Restaurant is a must, food and wine top notch. I had the local catch - Hare paired with a nice Chinon. Easy location to travel throughout the Loire.

United StatesThe shower wasn’t usable. The location was far from town (but we knew this going in).
The history of the property and the chateau itself were really lovely. We liked our room and the furnishings.

A very comfortable hotel. Excellent service throughout our stay. Great location to explore Amboise area. Swimming pool area extremely pleasant area to relax after a day of visiting chateaux. Be aware that restaurant is not open Sunday evening to Wednesday - I can’t comment on restaurant therefore as this coincided with visit.

PortugalThe flood lights just outside our room cannot be turned off manually. They go off automatically at 1am so at night our door and windows were full of insects attracted by the light. Therefore we could not sleep with the window open. Luckily someone came over at 11pm to show us how to put on the A/C. Other than that, our stay was lovely.
Excellent restaurant, friendly and attentive staff, comfortable beds, very clean. Excellent back massage down by the heated pool.

United KingdomWhile breakfast was very adequate I think for a hotel of this stature it could have been better with a bit more choice and local products. Home made yoghurt and jam for example.
Attractive Chateau retaining its character. Very helpful and engaging staff. Comfortable rooms in period style. Excellent dinner in the restaurant.

United StatesOne minor complaint was the service at breakfast. We arrived on the later side (slightly after 9) so it was probably better earlier. We had to ask for plates, glasses, eggs, and coffee even though there was staff present in the room. Seemed a contrast to the rest of the service and quality, especially for additional fee.
The beautiful property, refreshing pool, and of course the incredible restaurant made this a spectacular stay! This property has the perfect mix of history, charm and also comfort. The evening dinner outside on patio will be a night my husband, daughter and I will remember for a lifetime. Truly lovely and special stay. Also, well located in quiet area that is quick drive for touring Amboise and surrounding region. Good recommendations provided by hotel staff for sightseeing.
