Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNo lift but have to expect that in these old castles.
Incredible château that looks even better in real life than the photos. Large room and bathroom with very comfortable bed. The pool was incredible. Restaurant was also fantastic for both dinner and breakfast. 15mins to Amboise for restaurants/shops. Loved it!!

New ZealandWe loved the breakfast choice, fresh fruit including passion fruit. The dining room itself. The grounds and view were great. Our room was very large, nicely appointed and a beautiful large modern bathroom. The evening meal was excellent. We would happily return again, particularly if the weather was warm so we could swim in the pool.Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Excellent all round except for the late breakfast start time. Morning staff not very flexible despite evening staff saying it would be OK to come down earlier for breakfast.

United KingdomAs a luxury 5 star hotel they should have more staff available. There is no bar as such, they ask you use an app to order drinks (from the terrace, pool or salons), or for room service. The app tells you to expect a 15 minute wait, in fact when ordering from the terrace at 16:20 the earliest time the app gave for me to receive my order was 16:45, so I ended up going in to reception to request service as soon as possible, not at the time selected on the app. It then did take 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and to best of my knowledge there were no other people ordering. We felt that the whole app business de-personalises the luxury hotel experience. When you make your initial room booking you also get asked to use the app to book and confirm dinner and breakfast slots. At dinner the same waiter was trying to take orders and serve drinks and food to a busy restaurant. We heard the service bell ringing repeatedly in the kitchen, and it took a further 5 minutes for our main courses to come out, during which time our plates must have been under heat lamps, as my entrecôte had begun to crisp up and my wife’s fish was very slightly overcooked. Not enough to send back (we Brits hate making a fuss) but enough to make it a 8/10 meal despite the luxury surroundings. We stayed 2 nights and the bottle of water and teabags in our room did not get replenished on the second day, which was disappointing at this level of spend.
The chateau and grounds are truly stunning. The interior design, decor, furnishings and lighting have all been done superbly. Our 4-poster bed was the biggest I’ve ever slept in and the bathroom was larger than some bed-sits I’ve occupied. Air conditioning in our room was very efficient and quiet. Breakfast selection was amazing. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful, especially the lovely lady managing breakfasts.

United KingdomA few minor issues in the room. Shower head did not work properly and could have done with a brighter light somewhere in the room, but these did not spoil the overall enjoyment.
Lovely property in a great location for touring and the Loire area. Room was a good size, clean and was full of character with a big, comfortable bed. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

BelgiumA truly magic and beautiful place. We had a pretty room with views on the garden. The restaurant is cosy and the food is very good. The service is kind and professional. The hotel is dog friendly. There is no elevator - so you need to climb up some stairs to get to your room - but staff is helpful with luggage.

United KingdomWe were put right at the top of the hotel to start. We asked to change our room and the staff found us a lovely room in the courtyard. There were only a couple of other guests so we were wondering why we had been given such a remote room initially. There are no lifts.

FranceWould have liked better acoustics; the clients loud voices made it hard to have a conversation with my husband.
This hotel is in such a good location to easily visit so many of the Loire Valley chateaux. We got to see much more than we expected. The restaurant was good, but we had only one (1) evening dinner there in our 4 nights we stayed there since the menu didn't change.

United KingdomNothing of note. Would have liked more plug points around the desk area in the spacious bedroom.
Excellent situation close to the Loire, Tours and the motorway network. Staff friendly and welcoming at all times. Very good restaurant with extensive wine list (with a good range available by glass - suiting the solo traveler). Breakfast also good, with a seemingly endless supplied of fresh baked croissant and pain au chocolat.

United StatesThat we could not stay longer!
Lovely last minute stay! We arrived in the very late afternoon and learned that dinner was available on site. It was delicious! Our checkin was so easy and Sophie helped with our luggage and car. Breakfast had a wide offering eggs, yogurts, meat, cheese, breads etc! Even with few staying during cool fall days they did not short-change the guests. The pool and tennis court looked to be in lovely condition too. Will need to return to enjoy!
