Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

If you want to go back and experience 18th and early 19th century living, this is the place. It was charming, treated like a king. The gardens around the castle are exceptional, the staff was friendly and very attentive. The breakfast was excellent, their home made yogurt a delight. Room was above expectations with a very comfortable bed. Just want to point out, there's no TV in room, which in reality we did not need. It's a place for you to relax after a long day of sight seeing. Absolutely wonderful!

United KingdomThe biggest drawback is the absence of a proximate restaurant. There is one in the village 4 km away, but after that you must drive 16 km to Combourg, which is well worth a visit anyway. Remember, people eat early in the countryside.
Extraordinary hotel - absolutely wonderful. We stayed only 1 night but regret we did not have time to stay longer to savour the magic. The building, the decoration and furnishings, and the garden were all delightful. The breakfast was also superb.

United StatesThis was not a negative....We were dining with friends who lived close to the Chateau, but as it was the vacation time in France, and since many local restaurants were closed, it was difficult to get dinner, as they only serve breakfast at the Chateau. But the staff made sure that our kids were taken care of and helped them get pizza for dinner, warming it up in the kitchen. Above and beyond!
Wow! The gates open and you enter a world of luxury and classic beauty. Beautiful gardens and the sounds of cooing or ring-neck doves. surround you. The decor in the bedrooms especially is spectacular, with textile panel walls and canopy beds. The staff's extra effort laundering on-site and ironing all the linens by hand makes them amazingly fresh --crisp and soft at the same time! Better than the 4 Seasons! Amazing property, lovely people, a not to be missed experience!

GermanyIt is advertised in bookung.com and other sources that they provide a charging facility for EVs. I asked upfront to get confirmation for the charging option w/o any answer and when we arrived they clearly said that I cannot charge my EV at the chateau. On top of that there wasn’t even the willingness to foffer a normal plug to use the charging adapter. Anyhow, as I still was at 40% battery it wasn’t an issue, except that I needed to find a charger on our trip the next day. However, it would have been a challenge, if I would have counted on their advertised charging option and arrived with low battery. This is actually in the midfle of nowhere and the next charging station is some miles away and only with 7kW capacity which would mean you spend hours somewhere remote just to get your EV charged. So either they are clear on the advertisement that they DON’T provide charging or get this setup ASAP. I had set my filters at booking.com accordingly and found this hotel, otherwise I wouldn’t, so I feel somehow tricked!!!
Fantastic location, impressive garden, great breakfast, very nice atmosphere of an old chateau, very nice and authentic interior
