Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumIt is a bit offside, and you have to drive for all restaurants at least 10-15 minutes. Internet was announced to be “rapid”, but it was very weak and slow. A lot of midges (probably due to the animals kept directly under the windows). No climatization, only some ventilators.
Wonderful castle, great location with great outdoor pool, new and wonderful indoor spa, and tennis court (which is a little bit smaller than standard), big garden – worth a 2-3 night’s stay. Absolutely quiet. Friendly and welcoming staff. Breakfast is a great event, together with other guests at a common table in the historical saloon, but the offer is a bit small. Our room had a big and comfortable bath (but no shower)

United StatesThe breakfast was wonderful and impressively presented. The property was historically spectacular and it's elegance was perfect for a romantic stay. My wife and I could not have felt more special staying in such a grand chateau.

United StatesNo complaints.
The location was serene and the castle and grounds were absolutely beautiful. The owner and staff were lovely and we added night because our tween boys liked this place so much! We hope to come back again for a longer visit!

United StatesStaying at the Chateau was a real treat! It has been beautifully restored and is such a welcome departure from the same old hotels that have nothing terribly special about them. Staying at the Chateau, one really feels like a guest of the Chateau owner. Helen was a wonderful hostess. We really enjoyed visiting with the animals behind the Chateau as well! This is a special place and I only wish we could have stayed longer.

AustraliaMilk in the fridge would be handy for tea and coffe but it’s a small thing. Internet is slow and sometime doesn’t work. Usually that’s not a problem but we needed it for work
This is a unique property. We absolutely loved our stay here. The grounds are beautiful, the breakfast was fabulous and the location is terrific, plenty of other chateaux within a short drive. Helen is such a great advertisement for this place, nothing was too much trouble and she is always smiling. We would return in a heartbeat!

It was beautifully placed. So close to Ambroise and Tours. It felt magical staying in a 15 th century Castle. The breakfast was very well presented with lots of choice.

United KingdomDinner options are seriously limited even with a car. Everything was closed on the first night and there was one local restaurant which the entire town, hotel residents and even hotel staff were trying to get dinner in. Would be great if the hotel had bikes to rent- getting them separately to cycle round the vineyards was a pain.
Super rooms in the main building. Great to have a pool and tennis courts.

United KingdomThe wifi connection was useless most of the time, and phone signal at the chateau was also poor for us.
Beautiful old building with large grounds. The indoor swimming pool in the cellar was stunning - a lovely facility. The outdoor pool was OK and never busy, although the water was disturbingly cloudy and the pool area would have benefitted from more moveable loungers in addition to the fixed "beds" which cannot be moved to point in the direction you choose. There is also have a tennis court which can be booked for free. The two bedrooms we stayed in were decorated with antique furniture (which meant the bed was only a standard double and felt a bit small compared to the larger beds in modern hotels). The continental-style breakfast was fine (but felt a little expensive).

United StatesWhat a wonderful experience! Indoor pool, outdoor pool, beautifully decorated rooms, meticulously manicured gardens, historic antiques and modern art treasures everywhere! Chateau Jallanges is an excellent find! The host is friendly, knowledgeable and speaks English well. Two other couples we met have been coming annually for years. We were traveling from Bordeaux to Paris and randomly found it as a halfway point. So lucky we did. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

United KingdomNothing, because it is an old French chateau and don’t expect air con!
beautiful chateau with beautiful bedrooms. the breakfast was top quality and as much as you wanted to eat. secure parking, chilled environment, and we didn’t even use the pools or tennis court. The animals grazing the back area were a joy to see in the morning and there was bird song everywhere. I should have bought some of the chateau Vouvray wines, but ran out if time. We will return.
