Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandAll good !
Beautiful ,quirky old chateau set around three sides of a courtyard , in extensive grounds near Hillion. Stayed there for one night passing through from Brittany to Normandy. Very comfortable ,large room with large attached bathroom. Old exposed beams and floorboards, high shuttered windows and original fittings everywhere. The second storey is accessed via a solid stone winding stairs ! The breakfast was superb ,served on antique plates with bone - handled fine cutlery and a silver coffee pot ! Would like to visit again.

SwitzerlandWhat a magic place to be. The rooms are very spacious I mean like we never had a bigger or more original room ever and we use to travel. If you like history and the kind of France how it supposed to be, that’s the place to be. The owners are super friendly and helpful.

It has been a completely unique experience for us, staying in a real Chateau. Our French is quite basic, but everybody was very helpful and nice. Lovely breakfast with warm croissants, crepes, coffee, hot chocolate. The Rose Garden contains a big collection of roses et al. , all of them in flower at the end of August. Very special. We all loved their two dogs very much. It is close to the beach, we also visited the mussel farm in the bay and ate at the attached small restaurants 5 min foot walk from the chateau. Not much choice (moules et frittes), but fresh from the farm. Loved it.

NetherlandsJust be mindful that dogs are not allowed on the beach without a leash and due to the massive tidal movement the water can be quite far away.
Such a special place to stay with history back to the 16th century. Very friendly owners who made us and our dog feel welcome the moment we arrived

GermanyNothing too important, just one small thing: It was difficult to obtain warm water from the shower and a shower partition on the bathtub would have been helpful.
We loved our stay in this beautiful country house/ castle. The enormous suite, the gorgeous big, flower-filled garden to relax, the total peace and quiet. Absolutely a feeling of living in a fairy tale. There is a beautiful footpath to the beach (5-8 minutes) from the mansion with adjourning lovely hikes along the long beach and bird preservation zone. The surroundings in general are gorgeous. The owners are very friendly and we would have liked to speak with them more but our French is rudimentary. Thankfully they had a charming young assistant who spoke English and was extremely helpful (but we understand that she is temporary). We highly recommend this absolutely amazing place to stay! Make sure to enjoy moules frites at the charming Mytilus bar about 10 minutes easy walk from the BnB, absolutely delicious and at a great price.

United KingdomNothing - it was all lovely.
We were delighted by the chateau and its lovely owners who gave us a warm welcome. The house was full of character and our room was gorgeous - light, spacious and with everything we needed whilst in keeping with the style of the house. The bathroom was spotless and fully modernised. Breakfasts were delicious - as well as the usual dishes, Madame made us each a Breton galette each morning - we felt very well looked after. What appealed to us in particular was that the chateau was lived in by our hosts, rather than a fancy hotel - it felt very authentic.

United KingdomNothing, I would stay again in a heartbeat.
What a beautiful chateau and amazing hosts. The room was extremely generous and we had a separate bathroom with beautiful decoration. The house had French charm throughout and we enjoyed every second. Our hosts ensured that we wanted for nothing and the breakfast was excellent. It was a massive shame we could only stay for a single night. We will definitely be back.
