Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaPaying 10 euros per day to use the full kitchen (oven, cooktop or washing machine) is understandable but using 2 glasses, 2 knives and 2 chopping boards that we cleaned after and left the kitchen in a more than perfect condition is a little bit hard to justify and disappointing.
Nice breakfast, convenient location, cleanliness, host, swimming pool, garden.

IsraelThe breakfast is fresh and tasty, typical French breakfast. We didn't feel hungry after it, but personally we would prefer to have a wider variety of food.
This place is close to the old town of Sarlat. The suit is on the large side, there is a privet parking, and the hosts are very friendly.

United KingdomI would suggest you need a car to travel into Sarlat. The property is at the top of a steep hill. Not so bad going down but a gruelling walk back. Also there’s a surcharge to use the shared facilities (€8/day) and for linen on the second bed (€10/day). Not excessive, but were only told of this after we had booked our accommodation.
Room(s) we had were clean and comfortable. Shared facilities were very good and the gardens / pool spectacular. A lovely setting for outdoor breakfast and evening meals. Christian and Stephanie were extremely attentive and helpful with an excellent knowledge of the local area. A very good base for either a relaxing few days or exploring the town and local area.

AustraliaNot much, however if relying on public transport be prepared to walk. It is healthy for you anyway. In order to eat you need to go to town and obtain provisions. This didn't bother me as the location was lovely
It was on top of a hill overlooking Sarlat and wonderfully peaceful after the busyness of the market days. As it was hot during my stay the pool was wonderful and the host very kind and helpful

United KingdomIt did not bother us but if you don't have a car you need to be quite mobile as it is a steep walk up from Sarlat
Beautiful setting. Room was bigger than I expected which was a bonus. Delicious breakfast each morning. Felt like a home from home.

United KingdomIt was cold at times in the room.
Such a lovely place to stay. The grounds were gorgeous, they must look amazing in summer and not early spring when we visited. Christian made us feel at home each morning and on arrival. Breakfast was continental with a little 'extra' each morning. Christian was aghast when we asked for salt on our French toast!🤣. You definitely need a car to explore Sarlat and the surrounding areas.

United KingdomI would have liked to have paid the sur charge for the french tax included in my room rate ,so I could have paid before hand. I would have been happy to pay more for the room rate ,for it then to be included( we did this at an earlier property)The kitchen was made available to us but there was an extra charge . I would have preferred this included and again would have been happy to pay more ,beforehand . I suppose the owners though, are giving you a choice to if you use it or not. I like to be able to pay upfront for most things , so I can budget ,maybe its just me though. Be aware you have to pay cash as no card machine. But to be fair to the hosts we were warned about these things before our stay.Understandably if you have extras like drinks for example ,you would pay that bill.
Our hosts were fantastic. I am a coeliac , they went out of there way to get me some bread that I could eat for breakfast from the local bakery. We also got a "little surprise" each morning for our breakfast as well. The room was amazing, the grounds are too. The swimming pool was immaculate. We were very happy with our stay and definable recommend it to others.

BelgiumA beautiful garden, clean pool (so refreshing on hot afternoons!), having a plate of local cold cuts and wine at sunset on our own terrace, tastefully arranged with trees and flowers, hospitality of Christian, everything was perfect. The town is a 15 minute descent away and walking up the hill back helps you burn the foies gras ;). We could have stayed so much longer!

IrelandThere is nothing that needs to be improved! This is a lovely place in a quiet , peaceful location... be prepared for a good walk to and from centre of Sarlat!
This is a really beautiful property; everything you could need for a relaxing and quiet holiday in the lovely Dordogne. It has a magnificent garden, with a very well -maintained pool, shade and sun! There is a very nice little kitchen, with fridge and cooker if one decided to have a quiet evening in; the bedrooms are very comfortable, with air-conditioning. Both Christian and his wife are very welcoming, informative and helpful. We came back for a second time during our 2 week holiday; testimony to the quality of " Autour d'une Histoire"

Freshly squeezed fruit juices, fresh bread and croissant, homemade jams. Air conditioner in the room very quiet Very helpful host.

Beautiful house and garden in a wonderful setting with a good swimming pool. Christian the host was friendly, welcoming and very accommodating. He provided a local meat and cheese board for us at an extra but very reasonable cost when we arrived. The room was small but tastefully furnished with a good shower. The air conditioning in the room was very welcome. Breakfast was presented with fresh and local produce which was absolutely delicious. Christian was very informative about the area and had a lot of leaflets with things to do. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone who wants to visit the area.

AustraliaTacky downmarket accommodation with an arrogant and intrusive host, Christian. On arrival he welcomes you with all his rules on what you cannot do. The pool heating was not on because he deemed the weather too cold, but when asked about central heating he remarked something along the lines of ‘heating is not needed. It’s fresh weather’. He did point out the split aircon system, albeit reluctantly and suggested a half hour use would be sufficient. There are two separate apartments in the house with a common lounge and kitchen and the host would regularly enter without knocking leaving you a sense of his presence. The kitchen is a separate fee with an electrical fault and when raised with the host he commented ‘it’s not my problem’ - apparently it’s unreasonable to expect the stove and appliances to work at the same time; or for him to answer a message in a timely manner and answer his doorbell when the power went out mid way cooking a meal. Forget breakfast if you’re after a nutritional meal to kick start an early day touring the region. It mainly consisted of thawed bread, butter and croissants; and the earliest breakfast we could negotiate was 8.30am. Needless to say we didn’t bother waiting around for it after 2 days. He also acts as the gatekeeper to the entrance driveway gate, so you’ll need to seek permission from him to open the gate in the morning. No gate key is offered for you to come and go as you please. Likewise you’ll need to prompt him for the wi-fi password, which would be cut off when in the middle of working. On departure, he likes to take you on a tour of the accommodation starting in the kitchen where, with a scrutinising eye, each cabinet is inspected. We declined to continue on the tour of the remainder. The shower leaks under the shower door and worn sealant leaving you to stand in puddles on the floor - maybe the dim lighting is to blame for his scrutinising eye failing to detect same, so not his problem. No pool fenc
