What could have gone better was our arrival. This property is operated by an app. We are retirees and not very technology minded. We struggled. What you need to know is that once inside the building - using the app - in the room there is a gadget hanging on a hook beside the door that opens the front door outside. We did not understand this and I got locked out the studio in the rain with no mobile signal. I could not get back in. The host is able to open the door remotely. I asked a bistro owner if I could use his wi-fi to contact the host, and I eventually got back in. The host - who had been due to meet us but was stopped by work commitments - then sent a friend to explain how the lighting etc worked. He told us about the gadget for the front door. Apparently they are common in France - but not in South London where we live! The wi-fi code is on the app, but also on one of the several notices to the right of the front door inside the studio - see photos. The road outside the property is being resurfaced. This made arriving by car problematic too. We had to leave one of us with the car - parked illegally - while the other took several trips with the bags. When we left a neighbour in an upper storey flat took photos of us and our car as we loaded our bags. Our host reassured me that nothing would happen and - so far it has not! Contact with the host was good and he tried hard to help us remotely.

The studio is in an old building that does not appear promising from the outside. However inside the studio is very modern and really well furnished and equiped, very comfortable bed and chairs. The lighting especially is super modern, including the ensuite bathroom light coming on automatically. The location of the studio is excellent for walking to the harbour and seeing the old town of La Rochelle. It is not easy if you come by car. We did manage to find free parking for while we were there within walking distance of the studio. We did not use the car at all while we were there. We were recommended La Rochelle by French friends and we really enjoyed our stay. It is a beautiful place. The Tourist Office was helpful and suggested two restaurants - Le Panier de Crabe and Le Bistrot des Pecheurs. We went to both - very different, but both to be recommended. We also took the little ferry to Les Minimes and walked back - 40 minutes- to the town centre - again a lovely stroll.

Warm weather meant we had the windows open and therefore we experienced some noise from the street at night.

Modern spacious appartment, spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need. Bed was super comfortable! Central location close to restaurants, bars, shops and attractions.

Fabulous apartment. Perfect for a couple. Less than 1 minute from the harbour. Sebastian was so helpful and lovely neighbours. Would highly reccomend this apartment to discover beautiful La Rochelle.

Only issue we had is that access to the apartment was hampered due to roadworks on the street so it made the external look quite dusty. Also the apartment is right over a Kebab shop so initial impression given did not match the interior modern decor & confort. We would still rate Sebastian’s apartment a 10.

The property is located right next to the Old Port so a superb base to see La Rochelle from. The facilities weee top notch and the bed and bed linen were so comfortable . Overall an excellent base and would book again .

The views out the windows were of the building so there wasn’t a lot of light. Assistant to the owner did not speak English.

Suggestion: perhaps some pamphlets/streetmap of La Rochelle in apartment for first time visitors.

Excellent location in the heart of the very historical Old Port - close to all amenities and restaurants. The small solar powered electric ferry between both sides of the harbour is a delight - also the Musee des Automates is worth visiting. Really enjoyed our holiday break.

The main mode of transport around the city is by bike. Bike storage at the apartment would have been helpful, although there are plenty of places the bikes can be left safely overnight.

Sebastian was an excellent host who met us at the property on arrival. The location of the apartment was perfect for exploring La Rochelle.

We had an issue with the lack of parking. We had to use a car park 8 minutes walk away which cost us £50 for the four day stay and meant two journeys to move our luggage. This I feel is a failing on the part of booking.com who categorised this property as having parking.

If first impressions are important to you then be prepared for a slightly unimpressive approach. The inside is worth it.

This apartment is located right around the corner from La Rochelle old harbour. It is light and spacious and well equipped and the host was very helpful.

Light in bathroom was motion sensitive and so any motions at night near the bathroom would turn light on. Closing bathroom door tightly solved the problem.

Clean, contemporary appartment. Owners were on site and very welcoming and helpful. Excellent location. All modern appliances and furnishings.
