Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilThe only minor downside is that the apartment is on the 3rd floor and the building has no elevator, so be aware if you are traveling with luggage. We traveled with a small carry-on, so it was no problem.
The apartment is very close to the train station (5-minute walk), however, we slept very well with no train noise. Trains were only heard during the day, but only if you open the window. The building is old, but the apartment was renovated and everything looks new. Bed is comfortable and the heaters work well. The kitchen is nice if you like to cook. Wifi works and it is fast. The host is lovely! She made sure we had a nice stay and we sure did! We only spent the weekend, but it was enough to like the place and the host. We highly recommend this apartment!

AustraliaBeds were a little too firm for me, but that's just my preference.
Sandra was such a welcoming and hospitable host and made us feel home straight away. Apartment is very well equipped, everything you could think of needing was in the kitchen and bathroom etc. Location itself isn't the prettiest (next to train tracks and multi-level carpark) but is super close to main train station, trams, or a very short walk to the beautiful Grande Île with countless shops and eateries.

ArgentinaNothing! If we ever come back to Strasbourg, I would definitely come to Sandra's place!
The location of the apartment was excellent, just a few blocks away from the train station. Sandra, the host, has always been super responsive and and keeping an eye to our needs. The apartment is really nice and has a great view of the city.

United KingdomThe sheets, duvet covers and pillows were not great and there is a lot of stuff cluttering up the cupboard space eg spare but old toaster, hairdryer etc. The kitchen and bathroom are new but the final details give the place a studenty feel rather than comfort or luxury. There is space for 2 easy chairs or a sofa but these are not provided so we ended up lying on bed when relaxing at apartment. Not ideal.
Great location for train and for town. Very good instructions to find your way and get settled in. Well equipped with washing machine microwave kettle etc. Near a good bakery in station square. Close to petite France area. Comfortable bed. Good heating. Good value. Host was very helpful with early check in and keeping luggage after check out.

The flat is situated near to the main train station, but it was very quiet, well insulated. The owner provided us the necessary information promptly after the reservation, and was helpful later too. The flat was well equipped: we found everything we needed for a nice and cosy stay. It was a nice touch the cafe and the porridge provided by the owner. Comme a la maison!

United KingdomIt wasn't clear which door the keys were for. It seemed to be for flat 2 but was actually for flat 1 room 2. This needs to be made clearer for others. We tried to get in the wrong flat and were lucky no one was in it.

GermanyThere was extremely hot(outside temperature around 30+) and no aircon- so we had ventilators which were not really helping and we had to open windows- which means we heard all trains arriving to the Strasbourg - apartment without elevator on the 3rd floor- but we knew it in advance as house owner gave us really good description
good location, 10min walking distance to the main street and 5 min to the train station super good communication with house owner-detailed description, good check in checkout process(self check in)

RomaniaThe hallway (entry into the building) was quite run down (I was warned about the fact the building is to be renovated, but the problem is that it was dirty and smelled bad, therefore not a great first impression). The vicinity to the railway can be an issue for light sleepers (not my case), knowing that if the windows are open one can easily hear the trains. The neighborhood is a bit ...borderline. Very close to the center, but it felt a bit sketchy at times.
Sandra is an excellent host. The communication with her was great. She warned from the beginning that there is no elevator and that the building needs renovation, while the apartments were recently renovated. The place is clean and you can see the attention to details and the fact that Sandra does her best for the guests to have a nice stay. It is very close (walking distance) to Petite France and the city center. Also, very convenient for those coming by train.

The host is very very friendly, as well as the room was very convenient. It had its own kitchen and enough appliances in case you want to have breakfast/dinner. We had more than enough towels, coffee and even our own hairdrier and iron so everything was covered. The small balcony is a nice place to sit for a few minutes and whatch the city wake up. Very good place to stay on your own or as a couple, either way you'd be ok :)
