Wouldn’t go back on Sundays as very little open. As the hotel had no restaurant it made it quite difficult to find a restaurant open within walking distance!

We had a problem with the air conditioning. It appeared to have been set at 22c and it went off at night. We tried to reset it to come on and with a lower temperature, but without success. This resulted in a very hot and humid night and the windows had to be opened instead which then let in all the outside street noises- 2am revellers and 6.30am traffic which sounded like rubbish carts. When we mentioned this at reception, they were very apologetic and we were told that some rooms' air conditioning were not room controlled and were controlled by a unit in reception and that as it was manned 24 hrs then we could have asked. However, as we didn't know this and it had become an issue about 1am after we had gone to bed, it would have been useful to have been told in advance when we checked in. A comment on Bourges. It is a nightmare to drive in. We felt like we were in "Ground Hog Day" as we drove round in circles trying to get to the hotel with many no entries and one way streets. It was only because we had stayed at this same hotel 40 years ago that we knew roughly where we were trying to get to.

Very helpful staff who sorted out an issue with car parking which we had booked via the booking.com message service, but somehow the hotel system had not registered it (Best Western seem to have quite convoluted automated contact systems which we were inundated with but could not access further). It is worth booking a parking space- but make sure you do receive a confirmation from the hotel. The parking is a secure area a next to the hotel. Otherwise convenient parking may be an issue in Bourges. There is a small area outside the hotel where you can unload luggage, but you cannot actually park there. Comfortable, clean room with an excellent bathroom. Our room was very spacious but there was a lack of storage space for folded clothes, only a couple of very shallow shelves in the narrow hanging space. A chest of drawers could easily have been put in the room. As we were only staying overnight, we did not unpack, but it could have been an issue if we had been staying for a few days.

Bit worried about the car parking, having ‘booked” a space in advance there wasn’t any available so the car sat in the street beside the hotel. It was ok and saved us some money but I was a bit concerned about it.

Aspect of the hotel, room was good for the rate. The location was great and easy walking to explore.

Finding our way to the hotel via the one way system! It was lucky it was after 17.00 hours on a Saturday when we arrived and that we could park in the street by the hotel.

I had reserved parking in my initial message through Booking.com but email wasn’t delivered due to hotel’s anti-spam software, so had no parking on arrival. However, got free parking in Parking Seraucourt, 7 minutes walk, which was fine. No problem parking outside hôtel briefly to pick up our cases. Stayed in room 112, needs an additional plug-in point on the other side of the bed for charging a second mobile phone.

Very good location, very good restaurant recommendation from staff, (Chez Jacques, 80 meters away), bathroom facilities very well designed, very comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Helpful and very pleasant staff.

The hotel was within easy walking distance of the main sights of the historic centre where there were lots of bars and restaurants. The gentleman who greeted us could not have been more welcoming or professional. He gave us a map and recommendations for dinner. There was a locked car park, which was a bonus. Everywhere was spotless and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was absolutely amazing, the biggest selection of breakfast that I have seen almost anywhere; we wanted to eat it all! The breakfast room was lovely and the lady who served us was extremely jolly.
