Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceWe were disappointed in the hotel restaurant. Our stay was of six nights and we found the blackboard menu limited and therefore very disappointing . The service was very poor and we spent a lot of time just sitting and waiting. We decided to eat elsewhere, often at lunchtime wherever we were visiting. Provision of just one bath towel per person, no smaller towel for quick hand washing.
Neuf-Brisach proved to be a good centre for touring a largish area, including Colmar and a large part of the Route des Vins. Driving about the area was easy and the roads comparatively quiet.

SwedenThe facilites for me as person with partly crutches, partly in wheelchair was not super. The entrance for exampel had no ramp. Was one step high. The entrance to our room was narrow and the bathroom small. But it was on groundfloor. Good!
The restaurant was the best thing. For me with wheelchair the room was not 100%. Difficult bathroom.

New ZealandA male staff member delivered our food to us at dinner time however when we indicated that it wasn't what we ordered, he slammed the plates down on our table and walked away. We then proceeded to pass the plates onto the people at the next table - it was their dinner. He was very rude and let the other staff down as they (the two women and young man serving) were friendly, kind and helpful.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was great and a fan was provided. Breakfast had a good selection to choose from.

PolandThere are very few electrical sockets in the rooms, which is a problem these days with several travellers wanting to charge phones and computers. Staff were friendly but a bit haughty in the restaurant. Perhaps this is a characteristic of the French?
This is a comfortable hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious. The hotel has a restaurant where we managed to eat despite the late hour. The food was very good, local cuisine. The hotel is in a charming town, a fortress. It is worth taking a stroll around the area. At the same time, it is close to the tourist attractions of Alsace and neighbouring areas in Germany.

United StatesThe storage facilities for my bike were a bit quirky. You get a key and then have to walk down the street to a huge barn of a building where you can find a space to store your bike.
I stayed at Hôtel Restaurant Aux Deux Roses doing my 18-day cycle ride along the Rhine. The best thing about the hotel is the restaurant which is in the garden at the back of the building. The food and wine and ambience were superb. The building is a little worn and rustic and my room was nothing special but it was was clean and perfectly adequate. The hotel seemed to have mostly cyclists staying there when I did, since at breakfast five or six tables were occupied with guests wearing cycling gear. The historic nature of the town is another plus for this hotel, it's quite unique and would appeal to travelers interested in history.

United KingdomThere is a pretty courtyard restaurant for evening dining, which should’ve been lovely. The waitress there was incredibly rude, the service was awful and the food very average. It seems to be run separate from the hotel. It is a great shame because it spoiled an otherwise lovely overnight stay.
Perfect location, friendly welcome at the reception, marvellous garage for parking our bikes. Very comfortable and good value for money. The croissants at breakfast were addictive - so good.

GermanyCheck-in is possible only between 17:00 - 22:00 So either you go to anywhere else late or you come back to hotel early. And you need to keep your logage because before between 11:00 -17:00 hotel door is locked. Very old building with very old windows. They are taking the noise direktly in but the location is not noisy. And also cold is slighly coming in to the room which is compansated with heating.
Very nice location close to Colmar which was our target destination. Then also we see that city itself is very nice too. Hotel was covering standards for 1 night stay and late check out (11:00) was perfect.
