Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomPatio door was a bit stiff to pull open. A booklet of places to visit/things to do in the area would have been good.
Plenty of room -bedroom, kitchen, sitting area and bathroom/shower with washing machine. Lovely kitchen with large fridge freezer, full oven and microwave. Nice to also have an outside seating area. It was possible to walk to St Emilion but along road opposite which took about half hour. We were there during “ouvert portes” weekend so lovely to visit in the car many vineyards that would not have been open any other time. We went to Bordeaux and parked at owners suggestion in tram/park La Boutiniere. Very easy and cheap 4.40 euros all day to include tram for up to 5 people.

United KingdomYou would have to like walking and might be an issue if very rainy. However there is a Tuk Tuk at the station.
A fully self contained apartment. Very accommodating owner. Travelling by train and finding hotels in Ste Emilion too expensive, this was a great solution. Owners recommendations for eating out were excellent.

IrelandThe decking definitely needs a lot of work or replacing. The lock on the door was also a bit of a pain.
Close to the train station and not too far from Saint Emilion about 2 km. The air conditioning was definitely a big plus as temperatures were high 30’s

United KingdomA bit of maintenance would be useful, but the apartment was clean and comfortable
Location was rural which suited us. Outdoor space and dining table (as well as indoor) was good to have after a long drive. A nice extra was some bread, juice, butter and jam for the morning which we hadn't expected.

SpainNothing to complain about, everything was perfect.
We had a short (1 night) but perfect stay in A la belle vie. The communication with the owner was perfect and the apartment is spacious and truly comfortable. We were travelling by car, so a huge plus for us was a free secure parking place. The apartment is located approx. 30 min walk from the St Emilion town, so if you like walking, you can go there by foot. And there was a very nice surprise in the apartment: a tasty petit dejeuner (breakfast) for the morning, which we appreciated a lot. If we are ever back in St. Emilion, we will definitely repeat our stay in A la belle vie.

United KingdomThe decking (patio) is becoming uneven and may become a trip hazard. We had difficulty finding property as Sat Nav did not recognise address.
The property was very tastefully decorated. Although self catering there were 2 little pots of jam and Nutella, 2 pats of butter, some fresh orange juice and some bread to make a breakfast, which was a thoughtful touch. Parking is on site. Property is approximately 2km out of St. Emilion but you can walk into the village, approximately half an hour. Worth visiting are the Bell Tower for the view and the underground church.

NetherlandsWhen we arrived the place was not really setup. The lovely outdoor area they show you on the pictures was truly undesirable. The placed looked like it hadn't been used in many months and the outdoor area was in need of a good clean or wash down. The outdoor decking needs to be replaced as some of the wooden floor slates were damaged. The outdoor furniture was filthy. The inside of the apartment was okay however could use a deep clean. The security of the home is not great. The apartment sliding door on the terrace is damaged by previous guests according to the owner so all you have is a flimsy lock system that was not secure. We could not risk leaving laptops, cameras and equipment in the apartment during the day. Overall this place had potential once upon a time.
The location and friendly owner.

AustraliaThe mattress didn’t suit us, some decking boards were dangerously loose and the toilet seat needs re-adjustment.
The location was fabulous, the shower, kitchen and lounge area were very good. There was a wash machine and the owner gave us a drying stand. Easy free parking was a bonus.
