“Our host was charming and very helpful, and we were offered a welcome glass of cold white wine on arrival, plus lots of very interesting conversation. The property is a short riverside walk from a village with a couple of restaurants and our host kindly phoned one and reserved us a table for dinner. So nice to have someone do that for you after a long day’s drive. The property is airy and light and decorated with a range of interesting artworks.”
“Breakfast was lovely, very attentive owners who make you feel relaxed, and the shared facilities are all fantastic. The swimming pool is a big bonus also. We enjoyed cooking in the shared kitchen and eating our dinner on the terrace. Such a lovely place to stay. Usually used as a wedding venue but if rooms are available to book as a bed & breakfast basis that means a wedding isn’t on and the chateau is just the most lovely place to stay. I can’t recommend it enough to go. We like to travel and rarely return anywhere but will absolutely be returning here. We sometimes find chateau hotels in France a bit “too characterful” with wallpaper and old furniture verging on musty - this place has been done up well and feels fresh and clean but still lots of character and feel.”
“There is nothing not to like about the Domain des Monges, Peter and Serge are fantastic hosts, very friendly and so helpful in every way. The Domain des Monges is a beautiful house with a huge garden, pools and river frontage, the rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean. Breakfast was delicious, freshly made with home grown produce and fresh eggs from Peter and Serge’s chickens every morning. Excellent standard all round. Peter and Serge made our holiday on thè Dordogne memorable. Highly recommended.”
