Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe staff at check-in didn't seem to know much about the local area, like where to advise us to pick up food or things to do. The restaurant on-site was reasonably priced but the food was not great and breakfast was basic. Using the sauna seemed awkward as it was not close to our cottage and the booking system was unclear. More information could be provided on arrival about the area and on-site facilities as well as pricing for the extras like wood for the fireplace. Our neighbours were quite loud (just on the other side of the wall) until late at night.
The location was beautiful and very remote. We were lucky and got to see the northern lights. The stay would have been tricky without a car. With the car, we were able to get to skiing, food shops and other restaurants within about 30 minutes. There isn't anything in walking distance outside of the compound, but the compound has a cozy restaurant and bar. The fireplace made our cottage very cozy, and the staff was very quick to respond when we had issues with anything. The shower and kitchen were extremely tiny but worked well for our purposes. The staff was friendly and they even did a fireworks show on New Year's Eve. The staff contacted me in advance to see if we wanted to book a husky or reindeer tour, which we did, but only the husky tour was available. It was a great experience for the kids, but should have been stated when booking that kids under 16 are not allowed to drive the husky sled. The kids loved the pool table in the restaurant, which was often available and free of charge. We considered hiring snowshoes but we weren't sure if the kids would manage them and they were a little pricy for a family of four.

GermanyThe "gold town" concept is a bit odd, everything is focused on "gold diggers", guided tours are quite expensive. The cottages are a bit simple and not really well furbished. Everything seems a bit run down but clean. The shared kitchen might be a bit small if many guests would stay. Did not try the shared bathrooms and showers which also looked a bit old.
Nice cottages in the middle of nature and countryside. Nice team and staff in the restaurant/cafe. Everything clean. Good stopover on the way from/back North Lapland.

PolandSoundproofing of the apartments is just bad. Neighbours had a night-talking session (no music or dancing, etc.) and we could hear everything. Also 20EUR payment for using a shed with a fireplace (stays empty most of the time). Also the complex has no backup generator and the power was down a couple of times (short outages but still annoying in the polar night).
The location is nice, lots of snow and nature (winter visit). Nearby to Saariselka Ski resort. OK restaurant in the Village. There is a sweet white reindeer the kids can feed. Proper heating in the cabins/apartments.

GermanyThe toilet was a little bit unclean and smelly. The WIFI is only present at the reception but it was already mentioned.
Very nice and helping staff. A 3-course meal option, also a good option for vegan and vegetarian food. Very nice and spacious cottage. There is a fireplace that is ready to use in the room. The common kitchen has good options for cooking and storing food. There are lots of activities present and also you can book other activities like a snowmobile, a husky safari at the reception. There was good bus connectivity between airport and nearby city.

NetherlandsThe cottages don't have WIFI.
The overall atmosphere of this place is great. I stayed during the winter and the entire gold village was covered in a thick pack of snow, making it very photogenic. You get a beautiful and cozy cottage with a fireplace, which gives you all the privacy you need. Also the price is relatively low in comparison with many other properties in Lapland.
