Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Germany-
Our kind hosts (also their dogs) did everything to make us feel home, we had dinner with them, they prepared the sauna and the place is perfect for seeing northern lights as it is far away from any light pollution and directly by the lake.

United KingdomThe best place to spend your time in Finnish Lapland! Katja and Joni were so lovely and welcoming and made our trip so easy, including organising airport pickup and delicious breakfast and dinner. The property itself is beautiful (with friendly dogs and horses as well) and very secluded. Definitely recommend that you utilise the sauna and jump into the snow to cool down! Thank you very much to the Kotatuli family - hopefully we can come back soon :)

SwitzerlandThis is not a negative point but like stated above the place is remote so we would recommend having a car even though the hosts will help you get there and make your way back.
The place is an absolute gem. By the side of a lake in a forest, no light pollution, in the middle of nature. If you are looking for a genuine finish place and you love nature and it’s beauty this is THE place you have to visit. Katia and Joni are wonderful and help you organise and share activities. The breakfast has plenty of different options and some delicious traditional specialities. Thanks again Katja and Joni we hope that we will be able to come back to visit you 🙏

United KingdomIt's not so much things we didn't like but good for guests to know: - The chalet is about an hour from the centre so you have to plan activities carefully and efficiently. It is also probably best to buy ingredients to prepare your own meals or purchase meals from Kotatuli. - The chalet is an eco chalet and the toilet is a portable one which can take some getting used to but nothing terrible. Water is also from a tank that is refilled daily so keep in mind when showering etc. - No oven - just an electric stove and microwave so keep that in mind when buying food to prepare meals.
We stayed at Kotatuli for three days and it was beyond what we expected. Katja, Joni, Veera and Jenna were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay - we could not have asked for nicer hosts. Every time we needed some assistance the family were super quick to respond. Joni very kindly collected us from the airport and waited quite a while as our flight was delayed. He then took us to a grocery store (as suggested by Katja) which was great as we were able to buy a load of food and snacks for our stay. This meant we did not have to worry about going out for meals. As we booked the trip last minute we forgot to book our husky tour but thankfully Jenna found us one and at an excellent price! The hosts have really good knowledge of the area and can suggest the best activities for affordable prices so don't worry if you are unsure of activities. The chalet itself is beautiful and spotless. It is about an hour from Rovaniemi centre but I think this was definitely a pro as the area we stayed in was quiet, peaceful and untouched. It was very cosy and we slept so comfortably every night. The views were something else - you can see the northern lights without having to pay an extortionate price with a tour company. Very good facilities in the chalet and a fire! Kotatuli offer a few excursions. We did the horse trail railing and the snow mobile tour. Both excursions were beyond amazing and unique experiences. The snow mobile tour is up some hills (which are also untouched and super private) and the views at the end are breathtaking - especially with a hot drink and some Finnish pastries. We highly recommend their excursions especially as they create the trails themselves! They have a chalet where you can have a hot drink by the fire which is really nice. There is also a sauna on site which we unfortunately did not get to use but looked very serene. We cannot recommend Kotatuli enough and would love to go back one day, Thank you Katja, Joni, Veera and Jenna.

BrazilThe hosts are amazing! Such lovely people, including the dogs (playful and polite), and the place was very cozy. Katjia cooks yummy food and they are very helpful with the activities offered by them within our schedule. And the best is that they also offer pickup and drop off service for the ones without car rental and is very worthy to get 1h drive to reach this peaceful and blessed place. Everything is new in the farm and the decoration is very welcoming.

FinlandThe only thing we didn't like was leaving. I wish we could've stayed longer.
We absolutely LOVE this place. We are 3 friends travelling together and we booked the Chalet. The cabin where we slept is picture perfect, minty fresh clean. We were smitten with the cozy fireplace inside. Although it's in the middle of the forest in the cold, the heating system did a wonderful job keeping us warm. The sauna and BBQ hut give us an authentic experience of Northern Finland. The hosts - Katja, Joni, Veera, and Jenna (apologies if I've misspelled any names), were incredibly kind and went out of their way to assist us. And I save the best for last, the hosts have 3 therapy dogs and horses. They are the loveliest creatures you will ever meet.

GermanyThe water kettle and the portable stove where not that clean, and the chemical toilet in the tiny house wasn't emptied, although we told the hosts it was full so we couldn't use it the last day until we left, however we could use the toilet in the main house.
The cutest dogs, the whole place is really nice and cozy. The hosts are easy going. The tiny house is nice but small, we really enjoyed the fireplace. The location directly at the lake on which you can walk in the winter is awesome.
