Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandSheets are provided but not towels, including there being no handtowels in the dorm room. The private dorm bathroom is not a separate room, meaning the shower and sink are open to the rest of the room. So, there is less privacy and more noise from other guests.
The location is convenient for exploring the city and the decor is cute and comfy. It was not staffed in person but there were good instructions around the common areas.

ItalyThe area where the hostel is located is in the center of Zaragoza but it is not safe, especially for a girl traveling alone. During the day it is possible to go around, in the evening or at night it is better not to be alone

United KingdomNo staff available so kind of difficult to deal with special requests. A few girls commented that for them the location was not the best. I assume for any girl during the night could be really scary..
Good location, close to many shops and close to the center of the town as well. Easy to be found. Helpful information regarding laundry services and the bus timetable to airport. Mattress was very good, I really enjoyed my sleep.

ItalyThe position doesn't feel super safe. The automatic light in the room is a little annoying because it turns on and off when you would prefer not to. The kitchen is very tiny and could be improved.
The hostel is very nice, the common is very useful to meet people and make new friends. Super clean and it is quite close to the main touristic attractions. The staff is nice. Good price-quality

SpainAlthough I liked the hostel and the location, it has serious problems that have already been mentioned in other reviews... The automatic light in the room is a nightmare. There are nights when the noise from the street is very annoying. The neighborhood can give the feeling of... complicated...
The hostel is really nice, and small but everything is new, clean, and in place. Walking distance to everything. A small full-equiped kitchen. Bed was big and *comfy(except for room light). Every morning they clean everything (They can't do anything if other guests are dirty or careless after the cleaning) Friendly and helpful staff. Ask them for recommendations. Fav place for breakfast Bore Cafe, for tapas and atmosphere El Tubo (after 7pm, specially weekends). Avoid paella, they don't know how to cook it there.

SlovakiaJust a little things, no reason to not stay here.....at least a little shelf in the shower would be nice, to put soap, shaving cream, etc ...also I am sure you had your reasons....but automatic tap water ( which runs destined time after turned on) is not really a practical choice, I think water runs often too long for no reason, also in the night, after you wash your hands, whole room has to listen water running until it finally stops....but overall really nice place to stay
Really amazing location, clean, equipped kitchen, entry by code was practical as I didnt need to care about loosing a keycard, bed with individual lights, with dark curtains that allowed you privacy and sleep when you wanted, definitelly recommend for stay

United StatesThe hostel rooms do get a bit warm and there were no instructions provided to change temperature or to make it cooler(if any). The host mentions paid parking is available but the parking garage is at least 10-15 min walk.

IsraelPublic are super small!!! Lukily the place wasn't fully packed and luckily people didn't make a lit of noise. But- i needed to work. So when someone speaks, it's heard all over the small room. Also- kitchen is a bit too small. for 3 people to prepare food at the same time- can be crowded. So again, if the place is not fully or half booked by guests, than great place. The area is in an alley that can be a bit not friendly for someone who is afraid at night.. people wise and feeling of unsafe. But- this section of walk lasts 3 minute. No area for smoke. Shower in the room- no private space to get dress and put your stuff. So you need to improvise
They provide like liner so you can get into and sleep inside. Its noticeable that sheets aren't replaced often. Staff- nice. 1 receptionist. Loved that they don't crowd people inside a room. Only me plus another traveler in a mixed6 or 8 beds. 3 nights. Shower and toilet inside the room and 1 toilet in the ground-public area. Soap, shampoo- available.

AustraliaNoise: they have metal stairs, which can successfully wake people up anytime during night - ways to sleep at night can be 1) pray hard at the Basilica to let you pass out at night 2) drink a bottle of wine 3)walk 9am-9pm tirelessly. If none of these are working, move out to another place to stay. Room - beautifully decorated "inconveniently." I moved the artificial plants on the floor to have room to place a book and others. BTW, only hope they know that a recent study shows that artificial plants become cancerous after 1 year of usage Bed - I couldn't feel much issues at the beginning but ended up with terrible back pain. Interestingly, another person met at the kitchen complained the same. (The pain improved after moving out to another place...yes, I moved out) Staff - very friendly for 5 mins (or maybe less than this). It is not hard to see their feeling of annoyance when questioned more than a couple of times. Surrounding - very interesting to have urine smell everywhere. Felt like I was walking in a huge toilet
Location : Stroll away from a bus stop (though bus drivers are not greatly friendly, in fact, quite wild. However, that was fine for me. It was inexpensive but convenient way to get there from a train station). There are several decent markets nearby as well. Mercadona at Plaza santo (400m away) and Mercado central de Zaragoza (850m: highly recommend for quality meat products including processed meats and fruits) Facility : they have a kitchen. I know some people don't like their kitchen, but I was happy with even with that. They have toaster, elec.kettle, microwave oven, air fryer and others. (Someone spoke about "coffee maker" to let all people get confused and searched for that. But, they did NOT have a coffee maker bit elec. Kettle only.) Room: initially clean but not cleaned at all during 3 nights of stay. Room - beautifully decorated Staff - very friendly
