Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing - we will be back !
The property is located in a quiet rural area with no amenities near by. The room was well equiped and the bed was huge and very comfortable. Wi-Fi was not available in the room due to the very thick stone walls but a good signal was available in the communal area. The outside area was well furnished and the view of the sun setting over the mountains was spectacular. Breakfast was amazing, with fresh eggs from their own hens and a wide selection of cereal, fruit, cheese and cold meat. This was extra but well worth the €6 each.

SlovakiaBreakfast was great. Torrejas de Eugenia just make your day nicer. The place is in the middle of nowhere but still with nice views over the sea and volcano “hills”. There are plenty of dogs and goats in the “running” distance - not dangerous though.

United KingdomDuring our stay in Fuerteventura we had to amend the holiday plans on a spot, and hosts of Hotel Rural Huerto Viejo without hesitation offered us a new to the booking by 3 additional days at the same price as previous stay, which was super helpful, thanks!

United KingdomNo stores around, nearest large grocery store we have used was hiperdino in Gran Tarajal - not a problem if you have a car; generally not an issue but rather something to consider ahead of your stay.
We have really enjoyed stay in Hotel Rural Huerto Viejo. The place is conveniently located within the island, while there is not much to do in the nearest proximity, there is a great selection of attractions within 1 hour drive including airport. Great spot for exploring Fuerteventura by car. Parking is conveniently located. Place is run by a friendly family, there are also some cats running around, one without fur. The place offers great value for money if you are planning to drive around the south of the island, and get back to chill at the terrace after sunset.

GermanyNice cozy place, every room has a different style and we were able to choose. The hosts are incredibly kind and warm and we could borrow a sun umbrella for the beach. The homemade breakfast was amazing, especially for the price. It's the ideal place to spend a couple of nights away from the hustle and enjoy an amazing starry sky without light pollution.

BelgiumUnluckily it was a period of great heat and the position of the building, far from sea breezes, did not help.
The owners went above and beyond to make things right despite the adverse climate.

The peace, the clean air, the absence of mass tourism. The owners are super friendly. Kind. Informative. They give you their time! Totally unlike Airbnb! Room was the size of a small flat (minus the kitchen).

SloveniaMaintenance is badly needed. No English is spoken. The view is marred by the car parking.
An interesting accommodation option, but the hotel has seen better days. The hosts are very kind and the breakfast is good. The hotel was very different than what we expected from the description and comments on booking.com. The southern terrace is sheltered from the wind.

United KingdomThe bedroom could have had chair and a kettle/cups. The exterior wood and furnishings were a little tired. My lack of Spanish, so I didn't realise that the dinner was 'as provided' (i.e. no menu).
The location was lovely: In the country, with fantastic views. The old stone building was impressive. Very comfy bed and large bedroom. Friendly hosts. The opportunity for breakfast and dinner on site.

SpainThere were so many cats.... you couldn't open windows or doors without caution since one in particular always seemed to know and would streak in even under the most watchful eye. I truly loved our stay here but honestly would take some convincing to return due to the cats.
The setting was idyllic with views in every direction. The outdoor seating with tables was ample and comfortable with options on all sides of the building so shelter from the breeze could almost always be found. The rooms were huge and fully equipped. Fantastic shower. Breakfast was basic but well-rounded with a cooked egg dish. We enjoyed chatting with the owners at breakfast to learn more about life on the island. The location was perfectly suited to explore the south.

GermanyWell, if you are allergic to animal hair (few cats roaming around...don't come to close, though), if you are used to street noise and don't like the sound of the wind gently blowing across the mountains, or if you need urban action and distraction, because you cannot deal with yourself, this might not be your first choice.
I don't usually give a 10/10 rating, since nothing in life is perfect. And in most cases even 9/10 is over the top. In the case of Hotel Rural Huerto Viejo I can't help but give maximum rating. We stayed one night and we regret that we didn't stay longer. In general, this place is as lovely, charming, peaceful and traditional as it gets. In our personal case it was even beyond that. We arrived earlier than communicated and we literally crashed the siesta of our hosts (they were lying in their private room). But instead of being bothered they excused themselves and welcomed us in a very personal, nice way. It even got better: A few ours before we arrived I had an accident and damaged my food. So I arrived with heavy pain and without being able to walk. The host didn't hesitate to look after me and without us asking him to do so, he brought all medical support he had in his home. Super super lovely. The stay itself was a relief from all the hustle and bustle. Sitting on the terrace overlooking mountains, the valley and, in the far distance, the ocean, surrounded by the relaxing sounds of birds, chicken and goats in the neighbourhood. The casa (house) itself is a traditional old stone building (canarian/African style) with a very nice hallway and chill area with lots of interesting details (interior). The rooms itself are simple, with massive walls of stone. It is quite dark inside (traditionally to protect from sun), however, a big window/door leads to the terasse which is right in front of every room. (It can get very warm in the rooms, depending on time of year and if or if not sleeping with open window). The beds are very comfy. They offer an inclusive breakfast which is far beyond the traditional croissant and coffee. It's kind of a continental breakfast. The coffee tastes very good. Well, it would take much more lines to describe everything.
