Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandWe were in a ground floor room onto the street, noisy in the morning. The room was large but a bit stuffy, maybe the air con could be better. Really not much to complain about.
The room was beautiful, like an old fashioned Spanish castle, quirky, loved it. A great patio area outside. We were lucky to find free parking across the road, otherwise there's free parking within a 10 minute walk.

United KingdomInformation about what the hotel offered was scant and the bar and breakfast area were not well signposted. Breakfast was very disappointing and staff on duty paid little or at times no attention to guests. In a hotel of this quality I would expect better service. Coffee and tea was only available via a vending machine at breakfast and after 11am the area was closed. The fresh fruits available were not replenished very often. I cannot comment on the restaurant which is run separately, it looked very good but this is reflected in the prices. In a hotel of this size with so much space and many picturesque corners I felt it was a pity that a cafe and bar is not available on site for guests throughout the day, especially as there are no tea or coffee making facilities in rooms, even if you book the suite.
The atmospheric, beautiful historic palace building and easy access to a lovely roof terrace. The fact that the building and furnishings had not been modernised. Lots of interesting corners and views, very appealing to the eye.

United KingdomNothing to criticise. I guess a pool would be nice (it gets hot in Sanlucar), but it's a very old building and you can't have everything....
Beautiful historic building with original features (including lovely floor tiles) and lots of antiques. Huge, comfortable rooms with efficient air conditioning. Very friendly and helpful staff. The location is ideal, as it's a couple of minutes walk from the busy, restaurant-filled town centre, and just around the corner from a neighbourhood plaza where the excellent tapas bars are frequented mostly by locals. Free parking, immediately outside the front door. Decent breakfast buffet. Good value.

GibraltarTea/coffee facilities in room would just add that final touch.
The location is great right in the centre of the casco antiguo of the town, we were lucky enough to get the room with a great private terrace overlooking the rooftops. The room was quirky but beautifully decorated to suit the period of the building. Overall great stay

SpainThe welcoming by the staff at main desk was a bit cold, we just got the room key but no information at all about facilities and services, such as the restaurant, breakfast options or information about Sanlucar (like for instance a map with some recommendations). The room is quite basic, I was really missing a minibar fridge.
Beautiful hotel, the building is restored and decorated in a tasteful way, making the most of the palace original structure. The patios are beautiful, updated but keeping the real Andaluz flavor. Crossing the main door is an oasis of peace and quiet, we slept very well. The room was basic but very spacious, quiet and nicely decorated with vintage furniture and spotlessly clean. Location is very good, many attractions to see nearby (bodegas, palaces, the market, etc) and just 5 min walk to the main city square. The hotel restaurant El Espejo was really a highlight for us, we had an amazing dinner there (I heard about it from a friend, the hotel staff didn't even mention there is a restaurant on site). All and all it is a nice place to stay, I recommend it and I would stay again.
