Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBreakfast was great but the one thing which lets this place down is the restaurant in the evening. I am vegan, and although catered for at breakfast (limited choices, but ok, and soya milk available), there was nothing on the menu that was even vegetarian, apart from a cheese plate, let alone vegan. Despite eating there twice and giving notice of requirements I was grudgingly served the same dish, basically rice with what looked like a bit of frozen, chopped veg and a lot of oil. Food which filled a hole but nothing to get excited about or warrant the price tag, and not exactly healthy. Instead we walked down to the town centre the other 5 nights and found many reasonably-priced local restaurants catering for all tastes. It's a shame that a place which obviously prides itself on its restaurant doesn't seem to understand the concept of plant-based meals. I ordered a vegan packed lunch as well but got cheese and milk - in all honesty, not good enough, for the price paid. It would be cheaper for them to provide animal -free meals/sandwiches so I don't really understand it.
This is an absolutely beautiful hotel in a historic old building with lots of character. It's clean, spacious and the rooms are modern in terms of decoration and facilities, but they have traditional features such as wooden ceiling fans and creaking floors. I was with a group of 6 other painters and we all loved it. The rooms and communal areas are gorgeous, but the grounds are outstanding. The views down to the harbour and above the town, up the barranco; the cactus gardens, shady areas and the pool...no need to leave the premises really. The staff are efficient, friendly, smiling (mostly) and ridiculously hardworking. They seem to be there 24/7. The cleaners do an exceptional job and everything is spotless and so comfortable The place has an air of calm, and although there are a lot of rooms, it never feels noisy or too busy.

SpainWe ordered breakfast in our room on the first day. We used the QR code given by reception and filled out all required areas. This did not work. We had a phone call at 8:30 to clarify what we wanted, then they arrived half an hour later with scrambled eggs, sausages and orange juice. No bread, pastries, yoghurts or fruit as requested. We called down to reception on Sunday morning and the man on reception was very rude. He refused to accept that we were not given a piece of paper in the room to order the food and told us the online site doesn’t work properly. Another person came to the room with an order form. 40 minutes passed and no further food. We called down again, the same rude man hung up on us! Finally, we received the rest of the breakfast an hour and half after the first half. Obviously, the original food was cold and inedible by that point! We had to pay 5€ each for the pleasure! The next day we went down for breakfast and it was fine. What a shame one rude and unhelpful person brings down the hotel for everyone else.
The hotel is beautiful. It is very well designed and feels luxurious. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The views are incredible. The pool is a great size, it was very peaceful and serviced by staff for towels and refreshments. The restaurant and bar provide food and drink throughout the day/evening. The food was very good, including the best cheesecake ever! All but one member of staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The nice member of staff ordered us a taxi and made a “breakfast” pack as we had to leave early for the airport on our final day.

Belgium- Management of the swimming pool could be improved by 1) opening in the morning, 2) get easier access to drinks - Some features in the bathroom require repairments - Expensive restaurant
- Wonderful view on the ocean from the room - Quite welcoming staff - Very nice vintage touch of the overall location

ItalyAs noted by other contributors, there was a slight odor of sewage near my bathroom. I am sure that the hotel is addressing this based on other feedback. In any event, it wasn't so powerful for me to complain to the management.
I stayed here for five nights - wanted to stay longer, but the property was sold out. During my stay, I left the property only two times. The hotel has beautiful gardens, magnificent views, a beautiful swimming pool, meaning one can meander around, read, write, etc. in quiet. The only real noise is that of the Canary Islands winds and an occasional ship docking at the island's main port below the hotel. My room was on the first floor, just above the main entry cloister, and had a spectacular view of the garden and the sea. Sumptuous buffet breakfast, which was included in my room rate. The dinner menu offers a good choice of local cuisine; prices are appropriate for the property standard. Lovely bar with outdoor or indoor seating. I'm dreaming of returning!

United Kingdom• Book breakfast slots (who knows what time they’ll wake up for breakfast on holiday) • Pool only open 10-1800; very small pool towels which don’t cover the lounger (or even half) • Restaurant food supposedly the most refined on the island (Lonely Planet). That says more about the rest of the island than the quality in the restaurant. San Sebastian is not a great place for gastronomy • Breakfast at €42/couple is >20% room cost which is extortion • Need to up coffee game (only one caffeinated sachet, which produced some dirty water; no real milk) • Didn’t clean used cups or glasses • Bad smell in room (like drains)
Hot shower (but short on water if later in AM) Comfortable bed Cool/dark/quiet room for sleep Beautiful old building Great views over San Sebastian

CanadaNot something we didn't like, but you have to be comfortable climbing stairs and walking up steep inclines. Didn't deter us from going into town, however as it adds to the ambiance of the Parador.
This Parador is lovely - situated on the hill overlooking the ocean - view can't be beat. Breakfast was terrific and dinner is highly recommended. Staff are friendly and always trying to be helpful.

IrelandThe room could do with brightening up. Old furniture is nice but could be recovered. Wooden floors needed repair in places. One of two sinks in bathroom needed repair, despite temporary fix by very helpful maintenance man, could not let water out.
