Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt is too far way from stores and restaurants especially if you are already walking long distances on the Camino we were .There is no food available at the accommodation nor a fridge to store your own food.
A nice quiet location. A historic building. The place was clean and the beds were good.

CanadaThe property itself is very nice, but the furniture is very dated and the bed looked like it had been slept in since the 1920’s. The property is at the top of a steep hill and about 1.7k from the nearest supermarket. So after walking a long stage on the Camino, I was upset to hear that there was no food, coffee, or drinks available at the property and that another long hard walk was required to get a coffee or do any shopping to stock up supplies for the next day of walking.
the property was in a very quiet location and had a nice big garden where you sit and read in the evening.

SwitzerlandIt’s a bit hard to find the front entrance to the property as there is no Pacio do Sil sign on the front gate - at least I didn’t see one. I walked around for a while before I figured out that this must be the property. It’s also a bit of a walk into town to get something to eat.
Pacio do Sil is a beautifully refurbished farm house. Everything is tastefully done. My single room had a bathtub which I was more than happy to soak in. The property is lovely and the owners are gracious. I enjoyed my evening there. Very quiet and peaceful.

United KingdomThe place looked closed for the season. None of the guest lounges or recreation spaces were open. It looked as if no maintenance had been done on any of the garden or spaces round the building. To get information on check in you had to phone the hotel which just did, however only one person was on duty and did not speak English and unfortunately I do not speak Spanish so there was no way of knowing how yo get in. I had just cycled 177 km from Portugal and was fortunate to meet two guests outside who let me in. I have taken a video diary and photos and will follow up with Hotel.com when I get home to complain and ask that they do not list this property the photos of the inside and out of the hotel are misleading and do not represent its current status which is extremely poor.
The bedroom and en suite were basic and clean and the bed was comfortable so I have no real complaints on those items.

SpainPoor level of attention on arrival, had to sit outside a locked gate because they didn't hear the bell or phone ring, this after calling us to find out what time we were arriving, and we arrived on the dot of what we said. Location not great, especially after walking. Quite a long downhill then uphill back to get to the town to find facilities. The retreat has NOTHING In the way of food, drink, breakfast..we were really just paying to sleep in a "nice place". Personally we felt they are not maximising the potential of the property, because it is a nice property in a nice location. This isn't a nasty review it's just expressing our disappointment. It may well work well for others who want peace and tranquility AND have transport. I certainly don't recommend it for Camino walkers. Even if you took food, there's nowhere to prepare or eat it.
It's a very nice...erm...retreat...

United Statesnothing. It was perfect.
Our room was a lovely old fashioned room with a coupe of new tangled additions -- screens and a fan! it had cool thick walls, a lovely bath tub and was very comfortable. we had to leave too early for breakfast so the owner made us each a delicious "to go" breakfast of yogurt, fruit, bread, ham and cheese.

United StatesThe location because it’s so far away from food and services but that’s not their fault. I should’ve planned better.
The hosts were amazing! After a long and arduous day of walking, this place was an oasis. The room and bathroom were spacious. The bed was large. The towel even Al wrapped all the way around, and as a plus size person, that’s hard to find! The hostess helped me order food one night since I couldn’t get the online portal to work. When they found out how long it had been since I’d eaten, they even gave me some of their food. They also offered to take me to the hospital if needed since I was injured, but thank goodness I didn’t need to go. I was able to extend my stay without any issue. 10/10 recommend.
