Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainWe would have have preferred in-person check-in. I requested an invoice which is still not received.
We were a family of four traveling and we got apt. 1B which is a spacious really nice apartment with two bed-rooms and a bed-sofa. Location is excellent, within walking distance from Gran Via. A block from the Metro and there is a nearby parking on Fuencarral.

United KingdomThe washing machine was not working when we arrived and it felt like we wasted quite a bit of time trying to get it fixed. I appreciated the maintenance guy coming, however he seemed a little bit inflexible and I didn't appreciate the slightly accusatory question of 'but how long has this been broken?' The lady receptionist on the phone was very polite and helped to resolve the situation however. Next time, key appliances should be checked before the hosts arrive.
The receptionists were generally friendly and helpful (particularly the lady on the phone), the location is fantastic and the apartment itself is very nice. Had a great stay overall and I would definitely come back again.

FranceEverything is perfect!
The manager of the apartment is super kind and nice. We arrived late at night. She opened up the reception for us and gave us some nice recommendations for the restaurants and any info that we asked for. The location of the apartment is perfect. Easy to access and very close to the center. Also, very comfortable and clean. The view of the balcony is amazing. Definitely recommended!!! :)

United StatesAmerican-style filter coffeemaker works great, but could have been accompanied by a capsule espresso machine or stovetop espresso maker. We were a family of four and the pots / pans / dishes were just enough. Great to have a dishwasher, though.
Comfortable beds, simple, thoughtful layout, efficiently appointed, great balconies and windows on a quiet street off Fuencarral, a busy pedestrian favorite. Just enough of everything we needed, with responsive, communicative staff. Good A/C in the living room and main bedroom, aided by a ceiling fan in the second bedroom, kept July heat at bay. Very close to the metro (so the city is yours) and a lively 12-minute walk to Sol, 15 to the Plaza Mayor, and 20-25 min walk to the Prado. Quick access to the lively Malasaña neighborhood but also on the doorstep of Chamberí, with wider streets and elegant vibe. Restaurants, sidewalk cafes, and supermarkets nearby, and a stone’s throw to lesser-known but no less interesting museums of the city and Romanticism. Well run and no-nonsense design made for a seamless two weeks for the family.

AustraliaThis place looks very " tired" and needs attentionvery . The bathroom is in bad shape with dark dirty grouting and cracks all round a flimsy shower dangling over a slippery and worn bath. The grouting is black in many places and looks disgusting. Whole place needs repainting to freshen it up. It seems this place is low on the owners maintenance list. We were told they own 100 Bedrooms were fine......

United KingdomConfirming arrival arrangements was really hard work - despite booking on the basis that we would pay on arrival, we ended up being asked to scan and forward id documents for all 3 guests, confirm arrival times etc. in in advance. The usual convenience of booking a room easily via Booking.com was lost. In some areas, the apartment was not very clean.
The apartment was indeed bright and pleasant and in a very good location.

GeorgiaCommunication with the staff was never available. Ever since the staff sent me the check-in code, they have yet to respond back to me, and it was very disappointing. I have never experience something like this before. Also, While the common areas of the property were adequately clean, the kitchen appliances, such as, toaster and tea kettle, were quite unclean, rendering them unusable. I am truly disappointed by our stay at this property.
The location is good. It is located at the center and accessibility to public transportation is convenient. However, it was the only point that I was satisfied with the property.

GermanyThe shower and general bathroom area are pretty bad - the door to the shower doesn't close, it is tiny and old, and the pressure fluctuates along with the water temperature. Considering the bathroom itself is huge, it is pretty strange.
The bed was comfortable, the balcony is really great and the location is perfect.

GermanyNothing terribly wrong, but for the price I paid (approx. 180€/night) I'd expect an immaculate flat. Instead: the water flow in the shower was not steady, switching from strong&warm to weak&cold eveyr 3 seconds. The leather of the cheap IKEA armchair was slightly broken. The elevator does not reach the fight floor, where the apartment is located. As I said: nothing particularly terrible, and I wouldn't complain if the price tag had been only half as high.
The flat was simply ok. Nothing specially good or bad.

United KingdomBe careful of the website photos when you book. The photos on the website when I booked was not the accommodation I was given. I was put in the attic with a massive incline on the roof. No wide windows. No city views. Just the tops of other buildings. The space was dimly lit with natural light because of the roof lights and the lights had to be on the whole time. I'm 5ft 2 and banged my head several times so much so that I had to move the small table in a position to avoid this. When I took my first bath, although the bath looked clean, the grease line became evident when the hot water hit it and you could feel the grease rim. There was an oven in the kitchen but no oven utensils as found in other apartments so I had to purchase baking foil and double this up as oven cookware. There is minimal kitchen utensils, ie no chopping board, dull cutting knives, two teaspoons etc. Be warned there are no photos of this "apartment" on their website. I booked on the basis of the description and photos shown on the website booking pages Sadly disappointed and greatly ruined my stay. Overpriced for what you get. More hostel type accommodation if that is what you want. No big open windows as shown in the photos. Just small roof windows. The building also does not look like the photos. Alot of photoshopping used here. This is not my first apartment booking. I have booked one apartment in Malaga 4 times - photos exactly the same as apartment. Another apartment in Malaga - the same. Booked in Barcelona, several times - amazing accommodation. All exactly as described and shown on the website. I would not recommend this company. They state that a terrace means attic in their description. When booking on websites for accommodation you rely on the photos and description. If any one has doubts, this is a genuine review, check out the photos and judge for yourself. Look at the website photos.
Madrid is lovely. Well worth a visit. So much to see and do. El Retiro Park, the Royal Palace and Cerralbo Museum all must sees. Also Plaza de Oriente which is near the Royal Palace. It is also a shoppers and foodies paradise.
