Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The building was amazing, the staff were wonderful and our room was incredible.

United KingdomNothing, I will 💯 be going back for the place, food, service and expire the town. A must if travelling between France and Spain via San Sebastián
What a find! The building is full of history and charm with pictures of the renovation. Comfortable with different areas to relax, bar, outside covered space and even a carom table (we learnt in a night and loved it!)

United StatesMy wife and I visited the area for Carnival. Had a great time and the location of the hotel made it easy to explore by car. The hotel was very comfortable and clean. Beds were fantastic, with large rooms and nice bathrooms. Our room had a great walkout balcony and breakfast was delicious with lot of options and variety (recommend the tortilla). Very friendly staff.

United KingdomThe location was a little way out of town, a bit too far to walk. This didn't matter to us as we were on a touring holiday. The town did look very interesting for anyone want to sight-see.
One of the best hotels we stayed in on this trip. Everything was first class. The staff were very helpful, breakfast and dinner were excellent.

United KingdomAn exceptional stay. We travelled from the Uk and arrived at 10pm at night. It was no bother for them to make us dinner even though they were going to be closing shortly. The food was lovely and all homemade. We were shown to our room which was super clean and had lots of character we loved the style and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed our breakfast the next morning and they even offered to give us food to continue our trip to Portugal when we left. We loved it so much we have rebooked for when we make our trip back to the UK in a couple of weeks time. They couldn’t do enough for us!! Would highly recommend! Many thanks 😊

ItalyThe kindness of mrs Maria and her family, the gorgeus breakfasts, the restaurant
The hotel is a basque traditional structure worth to visit not onfly for the large rooms and the exceptional and abundant breskfasts but overall for the kindness of mrs Maria, the madame who has been running the hotel for the last 52 years and is now helped by her son and doughter. She is also the cook of extraordinary suppers you can have in the hotel restaurant. The kindness of this family is the ingredient that will make your trip great!

United KingdomJust a few issues with the wifi, being sorted while we were there. The patrons son speaks good English which was a bonus.
Everything was perfect, superb premises and very helpful staff. Meals were fantastic, breakfast superb and were we well looked after duing meals. I would love to go there again. The local area I did not visit except a few local bars and cafes, however the hotel is in central Basque Country so everywhere is reachable with one good base.

United KingdomThere isn’t any air-conditioning but that wasn’t a problem as it was not very hot.
A small family-run hotel in the mountains south-west of San Sebastián where we stayed en route to Portugal. The food was absolutely amazing - both dinner and breakfast. And the staff could not have been more helpful - my son (aka Master Hungry) was plied with food. To work some of it off, we went on a lovely walk up the steep hill behind the hotel.

IrelandI was a little disappointed by the location. In the photos it seems to be in the middle of the countryside, but it is in fact in a quite urban area, with a small factory, something to do with wood, across the road. But it didn't really matter, it didn't take long to get into the rural area. It was just a small surprise.
The breakfast was splendid. A whole array of sweet and savoury, all made by the elderly lady who we communicated with in our very bad Spanish. Everyone was very friends. We ate dinner there one night and it was fine. But the breakfast was outstanding. Our room was lovely too, with a huge bed and a big terrace. It's an unusual layout, with a "common room" that the bedrooms open out onto, with a billiard table in the middle. Quaint but nice.

NetherlandsThis hotel deserves a much nicer environment, near the hotel is a sawmill and it is located in an industrial area. But we accept it! It's just too nice to be there. And, there is nothing left to change!
This hotel is something very special, the building is very old and special, it is an old winery built with natural stone and it has been restored in a fantastic way. The staff is very friendly and you can eat from the menu for a very affordable price. From the hotel you can take a beautiful walk via the road up. You can drink a delicious Rioja wine in the veranda. However, the climax comes in the morning, because the breakfast is mind blowing. The person responsible for breakfast is Maria, she makes a lot of delicacies herself and we are not going to tell you what you can choose from. We do want to tell you that there were 7 different cakes of cream, cheese, apple, chocolate, etc. We hugged Maria after dinner! We'll be back for sure.
