Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThis is not going to bother most travellers, however evening vespers was ruined through the use of unnecessary micro-phones.
Excellent quiet location with great views over Embalse de Yesa. Rooms are functional with an en-suite with excellent shower. Good, and reasonably priced meals with excellent local wine. Pleasant welcome.

United KingdomThe breakfasts were adequate but not as extensive a choice as we had in other Spanish hotels. The staff made no real attempt to establish any relationship with the guests. The hotel evening meal was a great disappointment as there was no choice at all, so we only had one meal there in the evening and for the rest of our 6 night stay used the monastery cafeteria for a light snack in the evening.
The hotel is in a stunning location and the monastery buildings are beautiful. It was a great base to explore a whole range of places in Navarre. Our room was very peaceful with only the noise of the owls calling at night. We also enjoyed visiting a couple of the church services to hear the monks singing Gregorian chant which is a very ethereal experience.

United KingdomI always enjoy staying at Leyre Monastery. Breakfast was good although evening meal not quite to taste this time. Beautiful views from the ancient stone building out over the lake. A very good room.

United KingdomWe opted for dinner in the restaurant but wished we had not; a set menu of 3 courses with no choice which, apart from the soup, was inedible and we found out next day on paying our bill that the dinner was very expensive, but no idea of price was given beforehand.
An amazing and interesting place to stay, full of history, and in a stunning location. The room was very nice with en-suite bathroom, clean and everything one needs for a night or two, including WiFi and air-con. Parking is included on site. We attended a tour of the ancient part of the monastery which we would recommend. We would also recommend eating out or in the bar.

NetherlandsOur stay was a bit early in the season, which meant the restaurant was not open yet. So we had to drive some 15 minutes to the village, where there was a local restaurant we could eat (friendly and pretty good - but not for vegans....). There also was a quite nasty smell in the room, we were explained this was probably from the sealer that was used to treat the wood before the season started. It might disappear later on in the season.
Amazing stay in a 12th century monastery surrounded by woods and beautiful views. Very friendly staff.

SpainThe cloister gets very windy at night and and the noise of the wind gust can be annoying. This can be easily sorted with earplugs. The not so good part is that I woke up to little insects in my bed. The bedsheets and room in looked very clean, but was unfortunate to find those in the morning. I said it in reception and it was all solved with a sincere apology and a free breakfast. Thank you.
The location is superb. It has parking, and I was allowed to park my motorcycle next to the building. The place itself is beautiful and totally recommend the sung mass.

United KingdomThe food in the evening was very poor and could so easily be made better. Why serve a gristly steak when for the same money you could make a local stew ?? An apple for pudding or a slice of very dry shop bought chocolate cake wasn’t acceptable for the set menu price if €21 I feel. The salmon starter was good , just needs someone to look at the menu and perhaps simplify it and improve the quality. The food let down the rest of the amazing stay.
The exceptional location. Attending the service to hear the monks doing their Gregorian chanting was amazing. The room was above expectations with a large comfy bed and large en-suite.

United StatesThe food was mediocre at best. For dinner, my entrecôte (beef steak) was about half gristle. My wife's "fresh" fish actually stank and was inedible. Breakfast was very ordinary. Our room, though comfortable, had a strong smell of wood varnish that was distracting, and the ceiling fan produced an annoying sound.
Great, friendly staff. A fascinating old structure perched on a hillside with fantastic views over the valley and lake near Yesa. Extremely peaceful and quiet location (once the buses of tourists left for the night). Witnessing the Vespers service in the chapel was a very special experience.

AustriaIt is a great location in terms of the views and quietness, but you need your personal transport to get there. Parking is available on spot and is free. The hotel provides breakfast and dinner possibility, so if you don't want to drive elsewhere to get food, it is quite convenient. There are also some hiking trails starting right at the doorstep so the place is nice for nature-lovers. Wifi is good and reliable. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Very quiet in general although the walls are thin and you hear everything that is happening in the hallway, or when someone is opening their door with a key. Didn't disturb me much, thiough.
