Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. NetherlandsIt was very hot (juli) No airco. And we had to pick up and return the key quite far away. It was difficult to find the WiFi (in the black closet!)
It was beautiful, spacious and the location was perfect. Two wonderful bathrooms en two bedrooms. We loved it. Even an outside terrace and a washingmachine. You van park outside nearby for free.

The flat was spacious and very well equipped in the kitchen except being on a short break we did not use anything other than m ugs and glasses. There was no tea towel to dry the things we used.

South AfricaThe miscommunication with the hosts with a last minute change in instructions for key collection. These were emailed to us but we did not see these new instructions on time. A last minute change such as this would have been better communicated to us by means of a phone call. The bed in the main bedroom had a foam layer onto of it which made it exceedingly uncomfortable. The location on a square which restaurants just below the bedroom window , this noise level made it difficult to sleep
Well maintained and equipped apartment, with all the necessary utensils and appliances. The terrace was nice was a nice addition for having suppers in the warm summer evenings

Portugalthere is a lot of noise (at the weekend) outside and you hear as it is a party going on in the apartment. it doesn’t have air conditioning and in the summer it is very hot (has a fan). in the room with double room the mattress is very soft.
the apartment is good, with two comfortable bedrooms and is very well located, near everything. the furniture is new and good.

AustraliaThe master bed has a very soft foam mattress which I didn’t find comfortable as prefer a firmer bed. also the foam is hot to sleep on. no aircon but we knew this and the shutters keep it cool. the Nespresso was broken and I messaged the staff but they didn’t fix it.

AustraliaHaving to go and collect the keys from a separate office and waiting until 3 for check in is a bit annoying when you want to just get to the apartment with all your gear but it was worth the wait.
Girona has good value accommodation all round but this apartment exceeded my expectations. It was a great spot for the family and supplied everything you needed. Very helpful to have the washing machine after travelling a while. The location was perfect, and we appreciate them organising our parking. We loved our stay!
