Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsOnly tiny disadvantage is that there are no toiletries in the room like shower gel/shampoo. We were lucky to have our own.
Our stay exceeded all our expectations! Authentic town, very beautiful hotel with amazing patio! But the most we liked the stuff at the hotel. Very helpful, gave us a lot of advice, every morning checking on how you're doing and giving tips for activities. Breakfast was great as well! Also, free parking nearby is convenient!

PolandWe understand that the hotel has its own style, but for us it was a little bit dark in the room, but it's not a disadvantage, it's mostly about hotel style:)
The hotel has its own style, interesting vintage/old Spanish style, but at the same time modern and very cosy:) Very good location, good WiFi. The garden inside the hotel has its own charm, with fountain, fishes and great music:) A lot of interesting books, including travelling, architecture, really recommend to find a moment and check even quickly some books:) Very good terrace to the street, good breakfast! Especially thank you for warm welcome and advices to Giovanna:) There are always tea, coffee, bananas, muffins and wine for guests in the common area! The hotel provides a voucher to the parking, but we parked our car near the hotel along the street, there are always free places, so it up to you:) So for sure, you should stay even for a couple of nights in this hotel:)

RomaniaEverything was really nice, cozy and good quality. Top breakfast, snacks, coffee and wine in the evening. The lady from the reception was very friendly and knowledgeable. This hotel is a must visit, much better than the usual touristy resorts. Also they offer free private parking, a bit plus for us.

United StatesSometimes we could hear people talking in the other rooms or dogs barking from outside as we were trying to fall asleep. I'm guessing just part of the experience of staying in a 300 year old building. Would not keep me from staying there again but if you are a light sleeper maybe wear earplugs.
Beautiful and charming hotel in the heart of Icod. The location can't be beat. Walking distance to restaurants and a few shops. We had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The shower was wonderful with a rain shower head. Breakfast was exceptional that is laid out buffet style with eggs prepared for you if you wish. Wine, coffee, tea, water and a few snacks always available. They will prepare a picnic for you for a small fee should you need one for your day. Umbrellas and walking sticks also available for use. The staff is so friendly and helpful and goes out of their way to offer suggestions for things to do and to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

United StatesThe hotel is closed for the reception, is a minor inconvenience, we had to wait for a few minutes for somebody to open the door for us. After that everything was really charming, the place is unique and we like that.
Super unique and cozy, staff super friendly in the center of Icod with all the main attractions of that charming town a short walking distance

United KingdomIcod itself is a little tired, compared with nearby Garachico.
The is a wonderful, characterful hotel that has been lovingly restored. The photographs in the hotel show what was achieved! Estefania was exceptionally helpful and welcoming, and the complimentary wine and coffee was much appreciated - especially on Sunday evenings, when much of Icod was closed! Estefania provides a list every morning of the restaurants open that day. Breakfast was excellent and varied. The arrangement with the nearby underground car park for free parking was a big plus, although it is important to find the parking assistant on arrival to have your ticket validated with the voucher provided by the hotel. We arrived in the late evening and couldn't find the assistant, so we got charged the overnight stay. After that, the system worked well.

United KingdomThe shower in our room was a little tricky to operate.
Had a wonderful 4 night stay at this charming, historic hotel. The bedrooms on the first floor surround a delightful courtyard with plants, palm trees, seating, a fountain and complimentary tea, coffee, snacks and even red wine for the guests! Our room, number 3 had a huge comfy bed, a stunning vaulted timber ceiling and period features. Wi fi connection was excellent throughout the hotel. The breakfast was easily the best on our travels and Estafania ensured that the banana smoothies and freshly cooked to order eggs were top notch. There was also a huge choice of delicious treats, including banana cake, yummy! Estafania is an outstanding hotel owner going the extra mile to give us excellent advise on where to walk and visit locally and ensured the guests wanted for nothing.

A beautifully restored property, very central. You enter into a lovely courtyard with tables and plants. Coffee, tea, water, wine, muffins available free all day. Can imagine it would be a real oasis in hot weather. Rooms set on floor above, surrounding the courtyard. Large, comfortable bed, bathroom with shower. Dark due to wooden ceiling and floors, small windows, again would keep cooler in summer., very fitting in style. Breakfast excellent, good choice of meat, cheese, fruit, yoghurt, bread. Tasty banana smoothie! Eggs of any kind cooked to order. Above all the warm welcome from Estefania and all the staff… nothing is rushed, all are friendly and helpful. A really super well run small hotel.

United KingdomThe only downside was that the rooms are quite dark, which as explained is intentional to keep out the sun but for a stay at a cooler time of year was a little disappointing
The original Canarian style of the property, which has been stunningly restored. The staff were brilliant and extremely helpful. The property is on hard for all main facilities but is not noisy.

BelgiumThe bathroom was hyper perfumed (to mask a slight plumbing odour?), but we could unplug the fragrance dispenser :-). This was just a very minor annoyance in an otherwise great experience.
Very nice hotel and super friendly owner and staff. They provided us with good tips on hikes, visits and dining options. Great breakfast. Nice areas to relax (courtyard, library space). Area a great starting point for several great hikes.
