Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainThe room was really hot and we couldn’t lower it
The place was very nice! We took the jacuzzi and it was perfect. In the pictures it looked smaller or even like an older place but we were amazed because it is more “modern” than in the pictures.

United KingdomOne side of the bed was in the eaves so you had to crawl out of bed at night. The room should be redsigned as it is big enough to avoid this. The property is expensive compared to the parador in the centre of town.
Spa bath was nice and the location. Olite is a beautiful medieval town.

South AfricaThe only disappointment was the restaurant at El Juglar was closed, and we were directed to the restaurant at the sister hotel in Olite, the Merindad. The food was OK when it finally arrived after 90 mins but the waitress here was hopeless. She forgot about us, then brought French instead of English menus, then got the order wrong and also failed to bring our drinks with the food - they only arrived with the last mouthful. This cheerful but clueless lady is clearly in the wrong job! It could have been a spectacular success at El Juglar, but we'll never know.
Excellent, well-trained staff - a credit to their management. A relaxed and helpful atmosphere on arrival. An excellent room with superior furniture and fittings.

United KingdomThe only possible small complaint about the hotel was that there was no ramp all the way to reception - however you went, you had to lift your luggage up a few steps inside.
The juglar is a small hotel 5 minutes easy walk to the town centre with excellent bars and restaurants. The continental breakfast was good, served by the hotel staff.

New ZealandThe size of the rooms is very misleading. I felt like Harry Potter. Hit my head about 4 times....and so did my girlfriend (and she's 5.6). The shower is a joke because of it. The bed was the same quality mattress as a pullout sofa bed. Finally, the aircon points at a window and doesn't cool the room. I paid for the breakfast but you can't take it or even a coffee to go. It is apparently just plate service, so when we had to leave in the mornings and just wanted a coffee and a croissant (or anything...we just wanted something for the car) they couldn't give it to us. Went across the street and got what we wanted from a local cafe that opens at 6.
The pool was great for a refreshing swim and the grounds are very nice. Located just a 10 min walk to the town, it is convenient. Next door is a great winery that does tastings and just a few hundred meters down the other way is another.

United KingdomOn our first stay, we thought the property was family owned and run and very friendly. On return, it felt more like a business with us seeing various front of office staff. We did ask for a bottle of water in the room which would normally be provided in this standard and price range of hotel. We were pointed to a vending machine in the area to purchase water if required.
We had about 2 years previously stayed at this hotel. It’s close to the town centre , castle and Bodagas Ochoa. It’s beautifully presented with comfortable rooms and free parking directly alongside the hotel.

Absolutely great hotel. We arrived early and were able to check in right away. The room is bigger than expected with a huge bed as well. Interior of the hotel and room was very pretty and authentic, lovely. Bathroom also was big and clean, with everything necessary. The pool outside is well maintained and pretty among the flowers in the garden. There are plenty of sunbeds and parasols for a relaxing day by the pool. We were lucky to be the only guests in the afternoon so we could enjoy the pool by ourselves. Parking is readily available for free right in front of the hotel. Location is a little bit outside of the Old Town of Olite. Walking 5-7 minutes.
