Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

United KingdomI’ve had to pay security deposit I wont see for at least 2 weeks. The bed side lights were flashing needed new bulbs no one replied on number that was advertised for reception. I asked for extra pillows as l need them for my breathing l wasn’t given any.
It was ok for the price.

United KingdomPoor lighting in room, making it somewhat difficult when getting dressed on an evening. The shower had very little pressure because the hose leaked very badly. Check in was at the sister hotel a few minutes walk away, not ideal when 2 of my party had mobility problems. No reception staff at our hotel. Very noisy, especially at night/early morning. None of us got any peace and quiet with other guest doors slamming or the constant trail of traffic outside.
Quite good value for money. Clean, modern decor throughout. Complimentary drinks from vending machine in reception. Air conditioning in room.

SpainDidn't like that you had to check in at the hotel. It says self check in, which, after filling all the details online, still says missing documents when all fields have been completed. The shower in the room was ridiculous. Kept flooding the place and not even a bath mat, had to use one of the towels provided. There was a kettle, but no mugs. There is no room to put any toiletries in the bathroom. There is not enough light in the room. The bottom line is the rooms we're extremely basic for basic.
The location was good, free coffee in the morning , nice touch.

SpainBooked a room in what we assumed would be the same hotel as our friends. However, we were sent 100m down the road to an unstaffed sister hotel, which defeated the object of booking into the same hotel. During the night, a couple next door had a screaming row. Of course there were no staff on duty so no one to deal with it. I had to confront them myself and threaten to call the police. This is the downside of an unstaffed hotel. Glass shower screen had come off its runners. This is a case of "you get what you pay for", and it was cheap enough for one night.
