Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

United StatesI stayed there in early November. The weather was still warm and comfortable, but because the hotel had already shut down the air conditioning for the entire hotel for the season, the room got quite stuffy in the afternoon. There were no fans, and I was told at the front desk that corporate policy forbade turning on the AC for any individual rooms. This is not a situation unique to this hotel, and I have encountered it before in Europe. The problem is that a corporate desire to save money ends up making the rooms at times quite uncomfortable in the afternoons. The windows did open, but this lead to a second problem which was by far the most annoying part of my stay - the street noise. There was street construction going on during the day and early evening. If you opened the windows for ventilation, the jackhammers were deafening. The construction was of course not the hotel's fault, but under the circumstances the lack of fans and the refusal to turn on the AC was disappointing. At night, the street noise was from people talking and yelling in the street was loud and continued until the extreme early hours of the morning. I perhaps could have anticipated this since the hotel is in the extremely popular Gothic Quarter, but I was disappointed that the hotel didn't have better soundproofing.
The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. The front desk staff, the bartender, the housekeepers and the dining staff were all friendly and attentive. The breakfast was extremely good with a wide variety of foods. I personally thought it was an outstanding value for the price.

I was told the card entered on Booking.com wasn’t valid to pay for the second night and had to provide my own card (the stay was a gift so this was awkward to resolve). However the original card provided was charged and mine was not.

United KingdomThe breakfast selection is poor and breakfast room uninspiring and in a basement. Traffic & tourist noise could be a problem depending on your room location / time of year / how busy it is.
Great location. Very helpful and accommodating staff. Spacious bedroom/bathroom. No fuss / unnecessary facilities make the hotel a good choice for business travel - and good value for money - but still with style and comfort. (And - joy - it is possible to turn off air conditioning and open a window!)

Really liked the hotel, breakfast and staff. Normally, the location is fantastic. We were terribly disappointed with all the road construction. It was very noisy, difficult to get around. Taxis did not want to pick up and drop off at the hotel. Neither the hotel nor booking.com gave any forewarning, much less a discount for the terrible inconvenience. I am upset that I was not given the opportunity to make other arrangements.

United KingdomNo Coffee/Tea facilities in hotel rooms and so didn’t understand why they provided a kettle with cups but yet no Tea/Coffee/Milk/Sugar sachets. The bar had no atmosphere with no background music so was very sterile and had very limited beverages and didn’t have sangria which is a traditional drink in Barcelona! Our view from our hotel rooms was poor. We look out to a run down building which made us feel Like we were in some kind of run down area.

United StatesFor American travelers, at least, we would expect to see the table in the lobby set up with complimentary coffee (regular, decaf and hot water for tea). Because we often arrive with jet lag or our "internal clock" is still set to a different time zone, this coffee arrangement should be set up by 4:00 am each day. It is very difficult to find a good sized American style cup of coffee (such as what Starbucks offers) so early in the morning..... Starbucks does not even open until 7:30 up by the Jaume Metro Stop, which is very late for Americans who are used to getting up early (I would note that it is not expensive to set this up and you could readily ask for a one Euro donation from travelers to pay for it if that is the reason you are not doing it already). This is very important for travelers.

United StatesFor the price I paid, the room I originally booked was occupied when I checked in. Then, the room I was given wasn’t what I booked and was extremely small. My mother and I had to share a full size bed which was pretty old and there was no comforter in the room. The vault/lock box didn’t have a key to it so I was unable to secure my valuables. There were no full size mirrors and the hair dryer provided by the hotel kept shorting.
I loved the customer service. The gentleman who worked at the desk, made recommendations, booked taxis and just generally answered my every question and need—they were amazing, accommodating and extremely kind.
