I prefer a softer bed but it wasn’t terrible.

All of the staff was friendly and so helpful. The breakfast was far better than the cruise we had just finished. The location was great for walking around and exploring. Hop on Hop off bus locations within 5-10 minute easy walk. Would absolutely stay there again.

For American travelers, at least, we would expect to see the table in the lobby set up with complimentary coffee (regular, decaf and hot water for tea). Because we often arrive with jet lag or our "internal clock" is still set to a different time zone, this coffee arrangement should be set up by 4:00 am each day. It is very difficult to find a good sized American style cup of coffee (such as what Starbucks offers) so early in the morning..... Starbucks does not even open until 7:30 up by the Jaume Metro Stop, which is very late for Americans who are used to getting up early (I would note that it is not expensive to set this up and you could readily ask for a one Euro donation from travelers to pay for it if that is the reason you are not doing it already). This is very important for travelers.

For the price I paid, the room I originally booked was occupied when I checked in. Then, the room I was given wasn’t what I booked and was extremely small. My mother and I had to share a full size bed which was pretty old and there was no comforter in the room. The vault/lock box didn’t have a key to it so I was unable to secure my valuables. There were no full size mirrors and the hair dryer provided by the hotel kept shorting.

I loved the customer service. The gentleman who worked at the desk, made recommendations, booked taxis and just generally answered my every question and need—they were amazing, accommodating and extremely kind.

Friendly staff from the time we arrived. The room was large with comfortable beds. Bathroom with bath rain shower and plenty of hot water. The room was clean and well maintained. I almost cancelled this booking as I had found a high proportion of negative reviews online. I am glad I kept the booking as I now wonder if people who have submitted negative reviews have actually reviewed the right hotel. I would have no hesitation booking again if in Barcelona. The price was was reasonable when compared to other similar hotels in Barcelona, the location was good.

Although clean, our room felt a little tired and dated (some of the fixtures could do with a freshen-up). We were also initially a little disappointed that our room did not look out over the street (but instead a dim back corridor), but after a while, that didn't bother us as our room was quiet (and after reading other reviews about street noise, maybe it worked out for the best).

We enjoyed our stay at Barcelona Hotel Colonial. We thought the location was perfect - right in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, but also only a stone's throw from Port Vell and the beach. The room itself was clean, quiet, comfortable and a good size.

We were initially given an already occupied room which was a little awkward but resolved quickly. The included breakfast was decent. The parking is actually offsite about 5 mins away, and while secure, having to go back and forth with the garage key added some inconvenience.

The room was surprisingly very quiet and had a balcony. The shower was great and water was hot. The room seemed pretty dated and the bedding wasn’t super comfortable but the AC worked really well and the 24hr desk made me feel very safe. The staff spoke excellent English and were helpful. The location is walkable to many places and extremely convenient.

The property was clean and the staff were friendly. The lady in the restaurant at breakfast was always very friendly and her singing always put us in a good mood in the morning. It was located in the centre which had good connections to the metro, beach and authentic restaurants.

Lights off in lobby by 10:30, even though bar encouraged us to take last call to lobby. Staff literally turned off lights in lobby while we were enjoying our last call drink at 11pm on a Friday and Saturday night. Shushed several times before midnight on a weekend by lobby staff. Liked accommodations but did not feel welcome.

Location close to metro which allows very good movement. We went to tour the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, cruise on the Seine, walking tour which was Excellent. Classy hotel, area around safe with cafes and easy to stroll and enjoy the City of Love. Found receptionist CD's use of English very good and he was most helpful. Staff generally pleasant.
