Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesEverything was wonderful
You are selecting this stay for the location, the views, and the hosts. First, the hosts were excellent with communication and friendliness. Upon check-in, Alex was so helpful with everything. Upon learning that our room reservation did not include a room with a view of the Royal Palace (likely Booking.com description is off), I asked him if something came available that he could alert me. Within an hour he called me to let me know there was a room available which had a decent view and changed the rooms. This was a great way to start off our trip! Alex also provided directions to and names for good (local-good) recommended restaurants for each meal. We tried them all and he was correcto! Very good indeed. Second, the views are of the Royal Palace and part of Plaza Espana. From our room (thank you Alex) we had a partial view of the palace and this hotel has a perfect view from the rooftop bar. By the way, this rooftop bar seemed to be a local on-trend hotspot as it was full of beautiful people getting their Instagram moments at sunset. As hotel guests, we did not have to wait in line and were sat at a table on the glass to enjoy the view like VIPs. Lastly, the location is walkable to everything. Of course the Royal Palace is across the street, but also most of tye attractions we visited and tours we joined. La Tablas Flamenco is 100 meters (highly recommend) and dinner at Dudua Restaurant (highly recommend) is next to La Tablas. We walked to the fashion district for shopping and felt very safe walking back with name brand bags in hand. In fact, the only taxi we needed was Prado Museum as it was a 30 min walk and we wanted to rest our legs after so many tours the day before. For the items to be aware of (not necessarily bad but be aware): Breakfast is decent although available at 7.30 so if you start early you may need to eat at one of the nearby bars which stay open all night. There is a coffee maker in the room however only decaf coffee.

AustraliaThis is minor but I didn't like the stairs between reception & the lift as was difficult with heavy suitcases.
Great location within Madrid. The hotel room was fabulous with cooking facilities within if required & tea/coffee making facilities. Nice spacious room within easy walking distant to most Madrid attractions Great breakfast too with lots of variety. Lots of good eateries nearby. The hotel rooftop terrace with fabulous views of the palace is a must go to.

RussiaThere's close to nothing to complain about! what could be improved though is very minor things, like the absence of sweetener for the breakfast (I've got diabetes). and there are a few stair to the elevator - a small ramp for luggage could be nice there (we've managed, but if I were alone my back would not have permitted me to lift my bag there)
It was perfect. 1) It's located extremely convenient - in walking distance from 5 beautiful parks and center sights. there are restaurants and cafes a-plenty around. 2) Personnel was the most helpful and friendly, providing us with maps and recommendations. reception works 24/7! 3) There's a beautiful rooftop terrace, where the bar is located. unfortunately we failed to visit the bar, because it opened on the last night of our stay and it was crazy overbooked. but terrace itself is fantastic 4) Room is the most convenient too, it even had a microwave and anything else needed for a totally comfy stay. 5) designs are cute and very comfortable 6) breakfasts are very good! several kinds of eggs, pastries, cold cuts, fruits, cereals, veggies, fresh strawberries. coffee is no good though, but it's never good in hotels to be honest :) 7) there was no option for late checkout, but we were most comfortable in the secluded guest area and guest restrooms there while changing and waiting for our taxi in the evening. 8) it's in the city center, but it was very quiet in the night, we slept with open windows. although we could hear our neighbors speaking next door very loudly, but they didn't make a lot of noise between midnight and 9AM, so it was ok after all 9) cute window view attached

United StatesEveryone at the front desk was extremely helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and with lots of variety. The rooms have a modern mini kitchen and refrigerator. Their location is perfect if you want to be close to the best attractions in downtown Madrid, 4 blocks away from the Royal palace, and in addition to that they have a wonderful terrace with the Royal palace view, and every day at 11:00 am they have a display of antique cars at their basement. We really enjoyed our stay. We extremely recommend it!

United StatesUnfortunately could not check in early. We had to wait until the exact time and sat in the lobby very jet lagged.
Good location in Madrid to the palace and restaurants. We had a private free tour of the antique car collection under the hotel (private collection held by the hotel owner). This tour was very special and the woman who gave us the tour was very kind and knowledgeable We also appreciated the included breakfast buffet in the mornings. This helped start our days of touring Madrid on full healthy stomachs. The rooftop terrace is also a nice escape from the city.
