Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomStairs up to apartment are narrow, winding and only have bannister in parts and vertical wires in others. Be careful if you are old, unsteady or with very young children. Sofa bed not very comfortable. Host should consider replacing if possible.
Fantastic location. Good size rooms ( bathroom and studio) . Host made it available to us after checkout date and allowed u to store our cases prior to check in. Lovely , helpful host.

United KingdomWindows and doors were difficult to open close. The tiles on the terrace were a little dangerous and the chairs were broken. Overall it was clean but basic.
Amazing location!! Could get anywhere on foot within about 30 minutes. Would recommend it for that reason. We were able to check in late for a fee.

United Kingdom100 stairs to apartment and no working lift. Tiny bathroom no room to move in shower. No AC in bedroom and sloping roof above bed. Nice view from roof terrace but stairs to it had no hand rail so could be dangerous.
Fantastic location. Able to walk everywhere. Host was very accommodating.

FinlandIf you have bad knees, the flat might be an issue. There are narrow and steep straist to the flat, and also inside the flat. We didn't mind, though. Perfect fine toilet and shower, but if you are a big person, it might be a bit tight. Was missing something kitchen facilities like a sponge for dishes.
Balcony was very nice! The flat was on the top floor (4th or 5th), so the noise from the street was a minimum.

CanadaThe stairs! The noise! The listing does mention the apartment is reached by stairs but doesn’t say that it is up four flights of narrow steps with limited guard rails. We are reasonably fit but found going up and down had to be done carefully. The apartment is on two levels, the bathroom on one level the sleeping/eating area above. Cleaning supplies were minimal. There wasn’t very much toilet paper and the only toiletries supplied was hand soap. The shower is good but very small and larger people might have problems using it. The street below is lined with pubs and restaurants that are very busy late into the night and early morning. Without any sound insulation it was almost impossible to sleep.
The apartment is about a 5 minute walk from the Sol subway station making it easy to access from the airport. Although it is quite small, it had the basic necessities for a comfortable stay. It has a lovely balcony with table and chairs over looking the pedestrian only street below.

United KingdomNot an issue for us but some may not like the noise levels due to a few popular bars outside on the street. Small bathroom but enough.
Friendly staff met us easily on arrival, good location for exploring and Sol metro station 2 mins away, despite only being a sofa bed it was comfortable.

HungaryAccess to the house is somewhat difficult. Stairwell quite narrow, steps a bit too high. Not recommended for disabled people or people who are not particularly physically fit.
The location is ideal, only 150 m from the center. The terrace is very good, we enjoyed it.

IsraelThis is a tiny duplex with toilette and shower on the first floor and you have to climb (very unsafe) stairs to reach the bedroom. The shower cabin is a bit small. Also, to reach the apt you need to climb 4 floors and the stairs are (very gently speaking) look scary and unsafe - When we say these stairs for the first time, we were shocked. But after 1 day we got used to them. The street is very noisy, even at 4 am. But closing all windows and activating the AC solves this problem. My recommendation: Maybe this is the best apt the city center can offer, but to see the city you don't have to take an apt in the center. A good apt 2-3 km from the center is preferable.
The location is in the center of the center of the city. The apt has a nice terrace. The owner is friendly and speaks perfect English. The apt is renovated and very well equipped, it has everything one needs for a short or long stay. We arrived 1 hour after the check in time, the owner didn't mind. The price seems reasonable for an apt in the heart of the city. Advice: To reach the apt from the airport, take a train to Atocha station, and then metro (1 stop) to Puerta del Sol. Alternatively, taxi is 30 Euros (fixed price) will bring also to Puerta del Sol (you'll have to walk 5 min).

BelgiumThere was no coffee machine or kettle which I found quite surprising. The shower room also has quite a bit of mold on the ceiling and the apartment was not super clean in general, a fair bit of dust. Although there is a lift it doesn’t reach the ground floor or the top floor (appartment is on the top) so you have to walk up quite a few stairs - not ideal if you have accessibility issues and/or lots of bags I also found it strange that this apartment is not at the listed address. The host met me outside the listed address and walked with me to another place which is five mins away on foot. As a woman travelling alone, I didn’t feel particularly safe following someone I’d just met to an unknown location.
Fantastic terrace, full sun and great views! Worth it for this alone. Comfortable bed and well equipped kitchen. Super great location. Friendly host who you need to meet to get the key.

United StatesIt doesn't have an elevator. The stairs are narrow and very steep. Also, it was very noisy. Because the many bars around didn't close until late to be able to sleep, I had to use earplugs. The washing machine was falling apart, and it barely worked.
The location was excellent. It was right next to Sol. It was easy to walk to many major attractions. There were bars right outside the door. There were also many restaurants and shops close by.

BelgiumThe washing machine seems very old. We used the fast wash program which was supposed to be 35 minutes but it took almost 2 hours to finish... It could also use some cleaning.
The studio is very well-located. We visited the main places by walking and there are so many shops & restaurants close by. The studio is nice for 2 people. It's not very spacious but it has everything you'll need. The host was very responsive and friendly. He met us at the studio to give us the keys (he even prepared 2 sets of keys!) and check-in went smoothly.

NetherlandsDon’t book it if you are not planning to spend most of your nights out until really late. The noises of the bars around are absolutely unbearable, impossible to sleep until 5/6am with people screaming down the street all night long… (You can still hear those noises even with earplugs and the window closed.)
Great location, the owner is really nice and friendly, really clean apartment with everything you need and nice balcony!

HungaryIt is noisy. So noisy in fact, that I only recommend this room for those who are good sleepers. Does (like myself) who are having trouble sleeping in general will be disappointed. The bars in the street are open until 1-2 a.m. and drunk tourists are singing and shouting until even later. However this is not a secret the location is downtown with pubs and bars. Also there were some construction in the neighboring street, which started early and with a lot of noise:) The bed is quite basic (IKEA couch) not the most comfortable but that is not a huge problem.
The location was the best there is, everything super close and within walking distance. Shops, bars, cafés etc. The public transport is also reachable in 2 minutes. Antonio, our host is a charming guy, helpful, punctual and reliable, provided us with every info we needed. The small balcony (enough for two person to sit) is also a plus.
