Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

SpainVery noisy people in flat next door, talked loudly from 2 am till I asked them to be quiet at 3 am as my son and I could not sleep. They were smoking strong cannabis and the smell came into our flat. But not the owner's fault!

PortugalWe rented this apartment for two nights, but upon arriving, we were informed of an overbooking situation and relocated to another, supposedly much better, according to the host. However, this new apartment was in very poor condition: under construction, without a kitchen, without the contracted amenities, including a safety and first aid kit and fire extinguisher, and with security problems, such as the apartment door not having a lock (just pushing it to open) and exposed electrical wires. Likewise, there was no table or chairs, not even a trash can. The shower did not have protective glass, making it impossible not to leave the bathroom floor full of water and slippery. The walls were unpainted, with signs of electrical points and unfinished, particularly on the window frames. When confronting the owner with the lack of habitability conditions, he responded aggressively, refusing any solution. He systematically stalked us on the street and terraces, maintaining the statement that there was nothing missing in the apartment and that it even had water (!), going so far as to threaten us that he would throw our belongings out on the street if we didn't agree to inform Booking that we had stayed in the original reserved apartment. On the second day of our stay, someone was in the apartment assembling Ikea furniture that had previously been against the walls. Also that day, the building's lock was removed, leaving the apartment and everything we had completely exposed to anyone who wanted to enter without the need of a key. When the host was asked for the local accommodation license number, he replied, always in a threatening manner, that he did not have one and it didn’t matter.

United KingdomThe internet never worked - and was the main reason to book this accomodation as I had work to do. I raised it with the owners but nothing was done. The door handle (inside) to the door was broken and we were 'locked in' until we figured out how to force the door handle to open (ingeniously using a cooking pot with two handles as a lever!) The flat was fine but at the price, way over-priced for a little town that doesn't have anything to offer. Pull-out sofa ... pulls out in front of the main bedroom door so in fact, is useless as a pull-out sofa (I just slept on sofa scrunched up, without pulloing it out) However appreciated help bringing luggage (and bikes) upstairs.
