Turning off a very wet and foggy November road, arriving at the Casa was like coming home to a warm and friendly greeting. The welcome from Monica and Manolo could not have been better. The room was comfortable- a fire in the Salon, a cup of tea and homemade cake, and slices of iberico jamon! After a warm shower, I was driven into town for lunch and then returned for a siesta, some reading and the rare opportunity for a quiet afternoon and evening. A simple supper, good conversation as they shared their fascinating life story. Breakfast was a treat of fruit, locally sourced products and baked goods, fresh eggs and bacon. Amazing attention to detail, generosity and creativity. I’m sorry not to have seen the garden and pool- wrong time of year. But on my Camino trail, this has been my favourite place, and the hosts my favourite couple. I left with a package of fruit and cake, warm memories which carried me through the fog and rain of this day.

Nothing I did not like but I would say the first time you drive to the house I was nervous about the gap which looks a lot narrower than it actually is.

The stay is really all about the hosts who simply could not do enough for us. The most gracious hosts of our entire stay. We ate both evening meals as well as breakfast at the property and we really enjoyed the food which was both 'traditional' and excellent. The kids were offered, which they accepted, to help feed various of the animals including sheep and chickens which was great and to eat the eggs for breakfast that had just been collected was an extra bonus. There are walks (for pleasure) that you can take directly from the house and we also walked into town so the location is less 'remote' than perhaps it appears.

That road access is very narrow but not really a problem.

We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and offered a home cooked meal. Unfortunately we decided not to take this and this was our regret. The breakfast was wonderful. The location and setting of the house was very pleasant. The mill race and outdoor sitting area made the perfect end to the day.

Monica and Manuel are so great! They provided fantastic service, an excellent dinner and breakfast the next morning and checked-in to ensure everything was ok before and after. And their garden was incredible after a long day. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, including those hiking the Camino de Santiago.

A Casa Das Augas is a lovely place in the middle of the country side near Mondonedo. The place is not only beautiful and peaceful but it is run by a warm-hearted and kind host Monica. The place has been in her family for many years and it was originally a mill. I personally felt at home and wished I had stayed longer. I would definitely come back.

Monica, the host, made our stay here exceptional and A Casa Das Augas has been by far the best place we’ve stayed. The house is gorgeous, set along calming streams of water and a beautiful and calming forest. there is a lovely terrace and a small pool to dip your feet just off the terrace. From the moment we arrived Monica was providing us with coffee and the most delicious orange cake! If you stay here, make sure to eat the dinner Monica prepares as it is truly exceptional. We stopped here while hiking the northern Camino and left early the following morning. Monica went out of her way to get up and prepare an elaborate picnic and a coffee before we left. We left A Casa Das Augas not only rested and rejuvenated from the lovely house, forest and environment, and incredible food. but filled with gratitude for the generous hospitality we were shown.

We loved everything about A Casa das Augas, where we particularly enjoyed relaxing in the garden, next to the splash pool and the waterway that runs under this beautifully restored old mill house, and being pampered by our amazing host Monica. Our room was lovely, spotlessly clean, light and airy, and the breakfasts provided a great start to the day. It was also the perfect base to get to know the historic town of Mondoñedo and its cathedral, which was just a few minutes' drive up the road. Staying at A Casa das Aguas was one of the very best experiences of our camino. A little off the camino (barely), but so worth it. My family and a friend stayed here, in two rooms, and were delighted by the beauty of the hotel and the gardens. We enjoyed a fantastic home-cooked dinner outside, and a fantastic breakfast the next morning. Seriously two of the best meals we had during a month of travel. The hosts are a wonderful, welcoming family, so willing to accommodate our needs, truly going above and beyond. So hoping we can return for another visit soon!

I've stayed in Casa das Aguas while doing Camino del Norte and it was absolutely stunning! The room, the garden, food and views were all more than perfect.
