Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

BelgiumIt said that there would be airconditioning, but there was just an airspace that would circulate cold air if the roomtemperature was warm. You did not control it. I would’ve liked to turn it on and off myself. Our room was the first room on the first floor right next to the door. There was a lot of noise because of everyone coming in and out. There was also a window that had no light coming in from outside and you could also not open it.
Location was amazing, room was very clean, check-in and check-out was very easy, you could easily chat with the owners.

PortugalThis is the second time I've stayed here. The first time was a much better experience because my room was the last in the corridor. This time my room was the first in the corridor near the main entrance door and the sound insulation is really awful. I spent all night hearing the other guests on the corridor as well as the noise from the street was really audible. The sound insulation is really bad in this room.

SpainThe room was freezing, and there was no one around to ask for help. Even the only phone number they provided went unanswered—I tried calling more than 10 times. The building's door didn’t open automatically like they said it would in the email, and even the password didn’t work. We were stuck outside until 2 a.m., waiting for someone to let us in. I definitely don't recommend this hotel.

SpainHorrible experience. They had problems in the system, and getting check-in instructions took forever. They ended up spending info via WhatsApp, instead of the proper email, which did not explain the checkout process. We left the room at 9 AM next morning. They sent us an email with a charge for "late check out" at 2 PM, in order to avoid further penalties (as the mail indicated the late check out fee only covered until 4PM to complete the check out proceess, -again, not explained to us as we got the information via WhatsApp-), then, magically after paying for the late fee, we get a new email at 5pm saying we didn't have to pay anything, but no refund was received and they just ignoed our messages.

ItalyIf I could give a -100, I would. Worst experience I ever had with no support or customer service whatsoever. I was on a business trip and this overall experience has been only a stressful mess. I booked a room described as “double room” in the title, but in the end it was a very small room with a small window on a hallway with shared bathroom. On the first floor there are around 20 rooms and you need to share one of the three common toilets with the rest of the guests staying at the hotel. This information is not shared anywhere during the reservation process. No comment on the cleanliness of the shared toilets, with other people having zero respect of shared places. I request support and was told by Booking team that the hotel staff would contact me, but it never happened. Also, if this is not enough, the room was freaking cold with no chance to turn off the centralised air conditioning. In the end, I had to leave and book another room which cost me even more. AVOID THIS HOTEL LIKE THE PLAGUE.
The only good thing about this place is the location.

United KingdomThe worst place I have ever stayed in. The building is very noisy with almost no sound insulation. The metal lock on the room doors slams as the doors open and close. It sounds like people are slamming doors deliberately, they are not. However, with so many rooms, there is constant banging of metal locks. It's like a prison movie! There are so many people entering during the night, mainly because they couldn't work out how to access the building. One couple I met outside took 3 hours to get in. We could not to sleep at all, because of the noise in the building and constant noise from the Main Street as well. The bed was uncomfortable for 2 people, it's not a double, the pillows are awful, I had a sore neck the next day. To get to the room and get the links with a code, you have to spend a lot of time to go through the registration, deposit and extra document submission. Price we paid was 80 euros for a small bed for two people with a private bathroom. It was overprice for the facilities. Extremely poor value for money. I would not recommend the place to stay at all. The worst night of sleep ever,
