Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOn the last day, I asked the owner to book a taxi for me to visit the remaining 2 sites, which he did. However, the price for a couple of hours was really high. I didn't have time to negotiate as I had to catch the train: lesson learnt, in Egypt always ask the price in advance also with people you trust.
I like the location and the friendliness of the owner.

United StatesThe cleanliness of the room could be improved a bit.
The location is at the end of the shopping street, within walking distance to the train station, Nile River, Luxor Temple. We arrived hotel in very early morning by sleeping train, but they hosted us in the lobby and offered welcome drinks to wait the room to be cleaned. This made us very grateful. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and great to chat with, providing us with lots if recommendations that made us feel like new home. If you need to join any tours or activities, just ask the owner who will surely offer you a very good deal. We sailed felucca on the Nile River in Luxor which was a special experience for us.

NetherlandsThe streets outside are a bit noisy, which might take some getting used to.
The Venus Hotel in Luxor has a great location, on the East Bank of the Nile, in the centre of anywhere you may want to be in Luxor. The best aspect of this hotel was the genuine hospitality of the staff. They were always offering us tea/coffee or food. We stayed there during Ramadan and were invited to join them for a free meal after sunset. They were also very helpful in offering recommendations with regard to activities. On our last day, we were planning to take a train in the evening and we could store our bags at the hotel (they actually offered us the use of the room for the rest of the day) and they offered us free use of a room for a shower/to freshen up once we returned. The staff at the Venus Hotel were so welcoming, we had a great stay in Luxor.

United KingdomThere were a few things in the hotel that were under repair, but the staff were working very hard on renovating the building, so the facilities are under improvement, and there was nothing that inconvenienced us.
We choose the Venus Hotel based on its previous reviews for location and breakfast. We wanted somewhere close to the temples and with a breakfast that would set us up for the day ahead. We were not disappointed. We were met by Mohamed on reception like we were old friends, and he was so helpful in arranging our excursions. Aladin, who took us on our tour of the West Bank, was incredible, so kind, friendly and educated, his knowledge of Egyptology and Hieroglyphics can not be faulted. The man who ran the breakfast room was so attentive and made sure that we had everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious, was prepared freshly for us and was very satisfying. .Mineral water was always available to us, and we also ordered some lunches which were just as tasty as the breakfast. When we booked our stay we informed the staff that we would be celebrating our daughter's 18th birthday on the day we checked in. They made special plans just for her and made her special day one she will remember always. We are forever grateful to all the staff and especially Mohamed who took great care in making arrangements for her. Thank you to all the staff for helping us celebrate this happy occasion and for their kind service during our stay. We will certainly stay here again if we are in Luxor and would recommend it to friends.
