The staff didn't seem like they wanted to be there, everyone at the front desks seemed annoyed by our questions. The buffet breakfast was horrible, truly the worst I've ever had.

The location is beautiful, gorgeous beach, and close to Las Terrenas. The space is very relaxing.

I felt like I was being sold the Viva club membership non-stop. It was our vacation and I just wanted to relax and not be hassled about going to investment meetings. The other issue was the Viva expeditions. We bought 2 expeditions and their ongoing promotion in the hotel was buy 2 get 1 free. However, when we inquired about the free one we were told this offer had expired. Yet, throughout our 5 day stay the promotion remained in the lobby TVs and bar signs. I felt this was unprofessional. The trips themselves (salto de limon and Los Haitises) were great. But limited time in the actual attractions so you could spend more time around vendors.

This is my second time in an all-inclusive hotel. This hotel definitely has an amazing buffet and 3 restaurants that had pretty decent food options (and it gives you a great excuse to dress up on date night). The alcoholic/non alcoholic drinks were great. The day/night time entertainment was excellent (even under rainy conditions). Rooms are spacious and with working AC. Everyone was nice.

The buffet could have been a bit more diversified. Also, the rooms were very damp, but that’s not that’s easily fixable given the local climate.

The staff (especially Justine, Alex and Javier who were very dedicated), the swimming pool, the location, the beach access as well as the amenities.

The staff will approach you sneakily inviting you to an special breakfast and it turns out to be a commercial session in which they intend to sell you time-sharing memberships. Not nice to spend precious time of your holiday listening to a sales guy

The size of the hotel is ideal! not too bigso you dont need to walk long to the beach, restaurants, etc.

The beach was beautiful. The room was very good I would have given excellent but the tv needs to be updated a little. The pool in the back was nice but could have used some trimming of the palm trees to have more light come into the back. The food was not very good, mind you I am a foodie. The food was bland, lacked seasoning. I understand you have to cater to all different people from different nations. A little more of the island food should be on the menu. The staff needs a little more coordination when serving food and attending to the customers. Several times we went to the buffet and was asked by staff what we would like to drink, we would tell them and they would forgot. That happened the entire time there. Overall I know they are hard working and very good people, but a little more attention to detail goes along way. Overall I was content with the stay. I was able to enjoy some needed break from the hustle and bustle of New York. It got be back to the gym. The gym staff was excellent by the way. Thank you for the experience. I would still recommend the resort to others.

First few rooms were very damp (sheets wet from humidity). Last room had no working a/c and was +27, but at least not damp. It takes too much time to get food in restaurants, I cannot wait 2h everytime just to have a meal

Wouldn´t recommend the tours offered by the hotel, we got no warnings on the bad weather and it was overall not worth it, just stay at the hotel.

Good place for a getaway, the pool is great and next to the beautiful beach. The room was perfect with a good view and a great bed. The food was the best we tried in the DR.

The bacon was never good. It was either burnt or raw. Most of the hot foods were only warm. The food was bland. The fruit wasn't ripe. Portions at the restaurants were very small.

The resort was very nice. It was new and clean. There were not enough towel racks to hang up towles to dry.

The a la carte restaurants were a bit slow sometimes (which isn’t really an issue given you’re on vacation). The show by the animation team leaned a little but too much into outdated “traditional” gender roles for my liking but they were otherwise very talented.

Stunning location right on a beautiful beach. There is not much development nearby so you can go on long walks along the beach by the palm trees and enjoy. The sea has some waves which is wonderful and fun and you can borrow boogie boards and stand up paddles for free. The location is also great to explore the Samana peninsula. We rented a car and that was very helpful to go to the nearby waterfall hike for instance but it can be done through the hotel too. The drinks and cocktails are delicious and made with decent ingredients (eg you can order Aperol). Staff are attentive and friendly. The rooms and facilities are from a few years ago but well maintained and very clean. Food was good - buffet-style breakfast and choice of buffet or a la carte for dinner. Animation is light so you can avoid it if you don’t feel like it but have the option to join in for some sports or music in the evening. The hotel also attracted pleasant guests (no overloading and excessive wastefulness or obnoxiousness by the buffet for instance) and generally a lovely vacation atmosphere!

The resort was a little isolated. The room shower was not hot. The pool didn't have a hot tub.

- Our shower could not get hot. - We were there only for 2 nights. You have to book your restaurant in the evening in advance, but the seafood restaurant was already fully booked for the nights that we were there, so we did not get the chance to eat there. - With incheck at 3 our room was not ready. Staff did not tell us, but ignored us when we asked for the key. After ignoring us for 20 minutes and us insisting, they finally told us that the room was not ready. (Which was fine, but please don’t solve problems by ignoring guests.)

Best thing was the recreation staff( smiling, cafe, amaurys and everybody else don't remember their names) they made our stay fun, enjoyable and happier. The food at Mar /Fuego y Fusion excellent! The staff in general very friendly and helpful. Recommended 100% Gracias Viva!

You can only fly to the local airport (from the US) during certain parts of the year so we had to fly into Santo Domingo which was a 2 hour drive from the resort

Up until the penultimate day of my stay, my only minor gripe was that the wifi in the room was spotty at best - everything else had been fantastic. Towards the end I did get a stomach bug though, despite being really cautious (after reading other reviews) at the buffet / bottled water as opposed to the carafes ­/ mostly trying to book the a la carte restaurants etc. These things can happen, of course, but given the expectation when staying/eating/drinking at a hotel like this, it feels like something that perhaps needs a bit more attention ....

Lovely grounds, next to a beautiful beach and a nice size hotel that never felt overly crowded. There are some activities if you want to join, but equally no pressure if you just want to relax, and it is quiet to sleep rather than a party vibe. The room was clean, comfortable with good AC and a balcony for sitting outside/relaxing etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful, for example for booking a boat/snorkelling trip, helping with dinner reservations on arrival, etc
