Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

BrazilI went based on the rating here on Booking and had the worst experience in accommodation in my life, and I've stayed in hostels and Airbnbs in several places around the world. The room stank of sewage! With the exception of the security guard, the service was terrible, it seemed like they were doing us a big favor. The place is on a potholed street, the beach was filthy and it's not next to the accommodation, as it seems. We stayed for 10 minutes and went back, we didn't have the courage to go into the sea. But the worst part is the noise! There's a lot of noise on the street that goes on until the early hours of the morning, don't go if you don't want to sleep with 60 decibels of noise (I measured it). The facilities are not maintained: the mirror is rusty, the shower is falling off and the sink is leaking. We went to check out another room but there were cockroaches and the toilet wasn't working (I fixed it myself). Anyway, I don't plan on ever going there again and I don't recommend it to anyone.
The room was large and the security guard was helpful and polite.
