Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomDont expect any reply from the establishment either by email, messaging or telephone - they dont seem to actually have any reception staff as everyone is working in the kitchen or at the tables. The website said that the check-in closes at 9pm, but they then sent me a message saying it is 10pm - and failed to respond to my questions about which is right. My guess is that it formally closes at 9pm, but the beer garden is still serving drinks till 10pm, so (possibly!) you'll be OK arriving between 9-10pm but not guaranteed!
For British visitors - this place is a traditional German Gasthaus: a large beer garden (which is for food as much as beer), with a tavern where people can stay. It's not a typical hotel, hence the strange opening hours and check-in limitations. The location is beautiful, a couple of miles down a single track road (plenty of passing places), by a river and surrounded by trees - very quiet. The food is very typical for a beer garden. You really need to get there by 8pm if you want food. There's some really lovely walks across the river and through an old tunnel that takes you to another part of the river. We just stayed one night, but if you like hiking be great place to stay longer. Note: if you're arriving in the dark, for the last bend you continue to a turning space and then go back and down - something that is easy to miss this in the dark!

NetherlandsFor a plussize person, the bathroom is really on the small side. To use the sink the door has to be open, the toilet and shower are in quite a small space. For most people, like my husband, it was fine, but it was a squeeze for me. For people with mobility issues this is not the place to go due to steps and uneven surfaces. Important to note is that the hotel has no airconditioning, so it does get quite warm in summer. This is clear from the description, but worth mentioning if you’re planning to stay here a few days.
Stunning location, good selection for a breakfast although no bacon or Bavarian sausages, spacious bedroom and very comfortable beds. The room has everything you need and decent storage. The outdoor terrace covered with grapes looking out to the forest and river is beautiful. The room and the hotel in general are very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. We arrived on a restday so we could not sample the restaurant, but the menu has something for everyone and is focused on local cuisine. If you like biking or hiking, it’s a great place to start from.

United KingdomNo kettle in the room. Be careful when planning a bike route as Google maps sent us down the hiking routes! (Very unsuitable) No restaurant available on a Tuesday so had to get food in town first.
Staff were very helpful, were late as we got lost and still checked us in. Comfortable room with good air conditioning.

Australiathere was nothing that we did not like
The location is beautiful right on the river that can be crossed by the bridge that is there and we explored the tunnel as well. The property has a beer garden and restaurant so there is no need to go out anywhere. The rooms were clean and comfortable with lovely views

GermanyWonderful nature, I wish it didn't rain during our stay, but nonetheless great stay. Breakfast could've been a bit richer but it was OK as we came a bit late for it, around 9am. Definitely a place I'll recommend to friends and family and will be looking forward to visiting again.

BelgiumThe bathroom and shower are rather small.
Zur Triftsperre is located a little bit remotely, which makes it a very peaceful and quiet location. The surroundings are very beautiful near the river Ilz. It's convenient that there is a restaurant located right next to the hotel. The rooms are pretty big and comfortable.
