Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe were on the 3 rd floor which is actually 4 sets of stairs. No elevator. No air conditioner which wasn’t a problem since it was cool out and we slept with windows open. You have to use an actual key to lock and unlock room door and front door. Seems like it would be a problem if there was a fire. It is also located across the river from the town. Beautiful bridge and totally walkable.
Great view of the castle, good breakfast

Netherlandswe had to go up three floors with no elevator to our room. No own parking (but they gave us a permit to park on the street 200 m away). Breakfast was reasonable, not great.
The building looks nice but it is cramped. The view on the castle was very nice.

GermanyThe street in front of the hotel is too narrow without pavement for passengers.
Spacious and clean rooms. Lively common area downstairs. Beautiful view towards the Cochem castle.

CanadaIt’s all about your expectations, isn’t it? No, there is no elevator, which for the fourth floor rooms is a pain, but we don’t expect an elevator in a small and older hotel in Europe. And we did not ask at booking. We travel light with just carry-on bags and took our time walking the stairs. No, there is no air conditioning on the fourth floor (unsure about elsewhere) but honestly, we did not expect such hot weather in September, and what you going to do about the weather anyway? So also not an issue. Loved our little balcony with the view across the river to the castle.
Great location for this very clean, cozy, renovated, and well looked after hotel. Family run with a tasty breakfast, comfortable beds and very modern bathrooms with plenty of hot water. The staff obviously take pride in their establishment. We would definitely stay here again.

AustraliaCould do with mini bar fridge. Parking was a bit hard to get, but they provided us with the ticket which gave us free parking elsewhere.
Nice little hotel in the town of Cochem with our own balcony and an easy walk to the main town centre. We had views of the castle which was fabulous. The room was the perfect size. Got a fan as it was unseasonably warm.

NetherlandsMy room (facing the river) was basking in the sun all day long, which meant that the room became sweltering at the end of the day. Unfortunately I noticed too late that there was a fan in the closet, which could have massively helped.
The breakfast area has a nice and authentic feel to it. The breakfast itself is splendid and plentiful, with plenty to choose from. It was also nice to have some radio in the background. The air vent in the bathroom worked very well, which meant that there was no bleed of moist heat from the bathroom into the (already warm) room. I don't think it matters too much where you'll be situated in the hotel, you'll get great views regardless.

United StatesNo AC unit.
Great room with plenty of space for our family of four! The only real downside was no AC - which is common for hotels in Europe. The location was perfect- right near the big bridge. The staff was very friendly, the included breakfast was wonderful, and they provided a free parking pass for easy street parking. This was a lovely stay!

United KingdomBeing in the heart of Cochem, an old town, there was no room for a car park and the street outside was too narrow to park on. We did eventually find a free car park about 400 metres away which was fine.
Good location in the centre of Cochem. Lovely traditional building and a comfortable bed.

We have stayed in this hotel before and the location is great and they have secure parking for motorcycles which is a real plus point these days as it appears harder and harder to find good secure parking for motorcycles. This is a factor in every booking I do as we tour Europe every year
