We wish there were more comfortable chairs in the room.

This hotel is a bit like a lodge and spa located at the outskirts of Freudenstadt, in the Black Forest region. We chose it as a home base from which we explored the Black Forest by car. Our room was standard, with two chairs, nice bathroom, and a balcony terrace. There’s an indoor pool and spa that we didn’t have the time to enjoy. Breakfast choices were many and were offered in the large restaurant dining room. A comfortable attractive hotel with on-site parking.

The wellness area was not renovated and as that was the purpose of our visit, it was a bit disappointing. The pool area is lovely and we very much enjoyed that, but the sauna, infrared cabin and steam room are outdated and not very nice. The outdoor area is not welcoming (employee smoking outside etc).

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was very cozy and the bed was one of the most comfortable ones I have experienced in a European hotel. The restaurant was yummy. Everything from cake to venison goulash was very good.

The communal areas around the stairs were somewhat dated and didn’t fit with how spectacular the bedroom and restaurant were, although that’s not really enough to put us off. According to Booking.com the restaurant was open, but when we arrived, soaking wet, cold and hungry, after a day on a bike in the rain, we were told the restaurant was closed that day. By the time we’d got showered and changed and headed to reception to find out about booking a taxi into town, we found it was locked up and no one was there so we got nothing to eat until morning 😩 It also stated on the hotel’s own website that the restaurant is open every day. Perhaps this should be updated. We wouldn’t have booked to stay here if we’d known we wouldn’t have been able to get any dinner, which is a shame as it’s such a lovely hotel.

We were during a short heat wave, and the rooms have no A/C so it got a bit hot during the night. Even a ceiling fan would have been enough. To get from the lobby to the rooms you either have to go outside to another entrance, or go down to the pool level, then back up... A bit strange...

Nice hotel with large, comfortable, and very clean rooms. A bit outside the city, so it was quite and surrounded by green. Breakfast was good with a nice variety. The indoor pool was open for long hours, so even if we got back late-ish we still had time for it

The interior was partly high quality and really nice, some decoration was too kitschy and did not fit the overall design of the hotel. I think there can be some improvements made here.

Everything you need in one location - a very good restaurant, wellness area and of course, a hotel :) Many vegan options. When asked prior to the stay, they also prepared a vegan platter which I really appreciated

It would be nice to have a smart TV- for English-speaking/ foreign customers. Unfortunately we only stayed 2 nights, so it didn't really bother us.

Very kind and welcoming staff. The room and facilities were immaculate and spotless. The bed was comfy. We can only recommend this hotel—good starting point for excursions. The breakfast buffet was nice and we enjoyed a lovely dinner (a la carte) at the terrasse.

The exterior doesn’t look it but the inside of the hotel is very nice, new, pretty, comfortable, warm. Staff are helpful. The value for money is excellent for the room. We had dinner at the hotel so that made the whole thing pricier but prices for food seem quite standard compared to other restaurants. Good pool; good sauna. Comfortable beds. Would definitively come back.

Bar shut too early ie before 915pm so if you go out to eat and return for a nightcap or just to sit in the lounge you couldn’t. First night it had shut at 11pm due to Euro football

The stairs leading down to the sauna from the swimming area were a little slippy and my husband slipped and fell, so this might be something the hotel looks at upgrading or signage to make people extra vigilant

The accommodation was immaculate and staff were very friendly. The breakfast was truly spectacular and we will definitely return to the hotel and bring even more of our friends and family

Unfortunately the pool was not heated and when we went for breakfast the second day there was no table for two available. We therefore took a seat on a bigger table and the waitress told us that as there is no available space for the main breakfast room we had to move in the back room that it was not our preference. We thought that it was very impolite to make us stand and move while we were eating. If the table is reserved it should be noticed before the customer is seating. Additionnaly there is not application such as Netflix on the smartTV

We liked the bed, it was a quiet room and spacious. Good breakfast and the heating in the room was turned off the first night and we requested to the reception to turn it on the next night, which they managed to do.

Dinner isn't recommended at the hotel--we had to wait for 1.5 hours until we got our dinner! this is unfortunate. Mattress is old and due for a change, also no safe in the room or small refrigerator

Breakfast was fine but lacking variety of baked goods for desert and various meat options--comparatively to other hotels of that same caliber, it was mediocre. Rooms are very cozy, clean and spacious, hotel location is good.

Slightly old fashioned but probably suits the usual clientele and we were there on weekdays during the off season.

Amazing views from the hotel, friendly staff and nice breakfast. In a really nice area close to beautiful walks around the black forest valleys. We also had dinner there twice which was really good!
