Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe pillows and the bed could have been more comfortable. The food in Wismar in general could have been more varied - mostly it was some type of baked or fried fish with potatoes and greens.
The location was superb! Staff was really nice, too. They were understanding when we checked out a little later and helped us to find a good parking spot

RomaniaFew parking places available and all were taken. But parking in the market square is at 50 m from hotel. Prices were even better for a night.
Location Room we were given was on a different wing of the hotel and privacy was not great as the window accros street was 3 meters away. Also they was a bit of noise

New ZealandStaff were rude. Hotel soap and body soap had run out. Shower was clearly not set up right as whenever turned on wouuld trust and spray onto wall, no way to have spray straight forward - so I had to hold and shower over myself. A cleaner walked into room at 8.30 in morning while I on phone naked. I had checkout until 12 - what is this hotel doing cleaning before 9am and just coming into guests rooms that haven’t checked out. I am most annoyed that I told these issues at checkout when I was asked if everything was ok and the girl just said oh, do you want a receipt - didn’t care, say sorry or anything. So chances of them fixing are low to nil. Oh and you will get plenty of emails about checking in online and checking out online - which is redundant as there isn’t a place to leave your key so you still need to wait at desk (I waited ten minutes for customer in front). And why I need to check in online and do their job for them is beyond me. Wasn’t a choice but mandatory.

United KingdomMy room was quite small and at the back of the hotel overlooking a garden of a private house and a sometimes noisy street.
Location of the town square was central and picturesque. Spacious entrance, lobby, restaurant. Reception and restaurant staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was varied and pretty good.

GermanyIt looks like the hotel was partly renovated so there is a mix of new and modern furniture but also partly old fashioned and used items. A few details here and there that were not very important, for example the coffee coasters in our room were stained with coffee, the window frames were a bit old and wouldn't close very well, there were crumbs on the carpet at the breakfast room. I wouldn't have paid attention to these details if it was a 100 euro/night range hotel. But for 240 euro/night I would just expect a more polished experience.
The location of the hotel is very central and convenient to see the old city. The renovated parts of the hotel are modern and beautiful. The breakfast buffet has a large variety of fresh items that are frequently renewed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room was small but comfortable, cosy and clean.

GermanyI asked for the coffee/sugar/milk to be replenished in the room. I asked the cleaning lady and she said to go to reception. I did so and was told that any refills were normally paid for? However, the lady said she would get some put in the room - this never happened. We were in the additional building at the back of the hotel - the signal to use the WiFi in that part of the building was poor. On arrival, went into the bathroom and one of the bath towels was stained. It was replaced the next day. Little details like this need addressing especially when you are paying over a 160 Euros a night. Oh yes, the restaurant was not open on Sunday evening - is this normal policy?
The location was excellent. The room was very comfortable. Staff were friendly. Check in and out was painless. Nice restaurant.

GermanyBeing asked to pay on registering, being told the restaurant was closed for the day, finding the room was built opposite the hotel kitchens and the cooling system was so loud we had to keep the windows shut all night during hot weather, noticing the low quality of the carpet and furnishings, the undrinkable coffee both in the pot provided at breakfast and the coffee machine, the lack of tea in the room with the kettle, the general sense that this is a poorly managed establishment hiding behind the facade of a historic position on the marketplace, whereas in reality it is a new build straddling a street called Diebstrasse, Thief Street, together with layabouts who played techno music on a boom box into the small hours. The walls are too thin, so not only did we hear everything from people in the next room and the floor above, but every time a door was closed the walls to our room vibrated!
This is remarkable unsatisfactory hotel.
