Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Walking distance from S-bahn, very convinient for Stuttgart Fair. Rooms clean, bathroom new. Very, very friendly staff. Decent breakfast. Do not miss Ratsstube restaurant close by. There is NO problem with traffic noise.

Germany- No staff at reception, although I arrived within the "checkin hours" (shortly before 8pm), which made things a little bit more complicated - Has from outside and partly inside an old-fashioned/outdated appearance, although it was generally clean and well-kept
- Good price just for staying the night somewhere before flying from Stuttgart airport next morning - In short walking distance from the S-Bahn (train to the airport and to Stuttgart center)

BelgiumThere was a strong smell of cigarettes in the room. Also the rooms are close to the church and you hear the church bells every 15 minutes
There was a fair in Stuttgart and this hotel was one of the only still having rooms available. Luckily the location was good very close to the subway to the airport

United KingdomTV was fine - lots of stations - but only one (CNN) in English, although the room information promised BBC. Perhaps because of the pandemic, the hotel was very empty: after a quick and easy registration at the front desk, I never saw another human being again from then until departure. You are warned to take your key with you after 8pm, as the door is locked and there's nobody on reception; in fact I found the door locked shortly after 6. But my one human contact at the desk was helpful and efficient.
My single room was ideal for size, well maintained and comfortably furnished. Lots of power points and convenient light switches. Comfortable bed. Efficient shower. Plenty of storage space. Despite overlooking main street, very quiet at night. Right next door to the most friendly, informal and generous Chinese restaurant in Germany! And only a short distance down the street from the S-bahn station, which is one stop (4 min) from Stuttgart Airport - couldn't be more convenient. Echterdingen is a small, fairly picturesque little town with all the facilities you'd need within a compact area. Checking out of the hotel was easy - I was simply asked to leave my key at the (unattended) reception desk.

United KingdomThe room smelled distinctively. The ventilation was poor. I am assuming it is probably cigarette smokes that are hard to get rid off the walls?

United KingdomI stayed here a year ago, and everything went smoothly. This time I arrived to find the front door locked, and a handwritten note on it (in German) giving a number to ring. When I rang it, I was given instructions to obtain a key, and told to leave cash to settle the bill the following morning. Nobody appeared all night, and I had a strong suspicion I was the only person on site - which was unsettling to say the least. The room was fine, but the TV wasn't working, and the Internet connection was very flaky. I had come hoping to book beakfast, but there was no possibility of that. In the morning, to my surprise, a lady appeared at the reception desk (although I'd gathered from my telephone conversation the previous evening that nobody would be there). When I reported that the TV was not working, she said, "I know." I must have looked surprised, as she added with a vague wave of the hand, "Wir haben Störung". That's not good enough. A hotel should have someone on hand to make sure guests are looked after, should tell arriving guests if basic management is not going to be in place, should warn them if some facilities are in disrepair, and should not send guests out to look for a cash machine so that they can pay the bill. If I hadn't had some grasp of German, and a working mobile phone, I would have been left completely bewildered on the doorstep. I'm very disappointed.
Hotel Sonne is central in Echterdingen, close to the airport and S-Bahn, and right next door to a marvellous Chinese restaurant. It is well equipped and immaculately clean. Its prices are very competitive. Check-out is midday, which is generous.
