Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe strange thing for me was that there was a key. On a key ring. I haven't had a hotel room with one of those in years!!! Bathroom - shower enclosure was difficult to close correctly. Spa - only open from 4pm. Restaurants - reception didn't really know what was available in the town. An there is a night door as reception closes at 10pm - also haven't been to a hotel with one of those in a while.
The rooms were very reasonable sized, very comfortable bed, pretty nice bathrooms (the shower door was a bit awkward to close). Breakfast was very good - excellent selection although on day 1 we were late down and the mini croissant were overdone unfortunately. Day 2 we were earlier and they were better! It has a Spa! Location - WOW to the location - right next to the old town - leave the hotel and you are there!

United KingdomThey seemed a little short staffed. There was no one at the reception when we first arrived..took a while before someone appeared. Our room was next to the lift system, so was very noisy when in use. Breakfast was a little uninspiring. Was surprised it was classed as 4* by Booking.com
Very good location, clean and we had a large room at the top of the building. Great bathroom. We were able to park outside the hotel at no cost

United StatesSee above. Again with no air conditioning I would hesitate to stay there in the warmer months.
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Adelshof in Schwäbisch Hall for 5 nights. The architecture of the hotel is more of a traditional Bavarian style hotel. We stayed on the 4th floor with an angled view of the hills. The location of the hotel is right next to St. Michael's Church at the top of a hill. So from the train station I reccomend getting a taxi because taking your luggage down a hill and then up a hill can be quite rough. The town starts at the hotel and then goes down to the river and then rises on the other side of the river to another hill. Going down the hill into the town is pretty easy, going up the hill to the hotel is not so easy. There is a restaurant, a coffee and cake shop and a pharmacy with in easy walking distance. The hotel has an elevator that will take you to the 4th floor. The room itself was spacious enough with a wardrobe instead of closets. The box spring rests on the floor with the mattress on top. The bed was comfortable. There was a glass enclosed shower that could have used a shelf to put your shampoo and conditioner. The shower contained 1 type of all purpose liquid that was supposed to used for soap, body wash and shampoo. No hair conditioner was supplied. There was a small couch and table to put drinks or food on. There was a TV and WiFi. I do not remember having a safe. Also no AC. There was a desk receptionist who was very friendly named Oskar who went out of his way to help us with any questions. Hurrah for Oskar. The breakfast was very nice in typical European style. Smoked Salmon, eggs, bacon, sausages, yogurt, cereal, rolls, etc... The breakfast is very nice. The room has heat but no air condtioning however we could open the windows which for mid October was sufficient. There are 2 really nice art galleries in town funded by a philanthropist named Würth of old masters (really nice with Cranachs, Grünewalds, and a really fine Holbein) and a more modern one. All in all we would stay there in the cooler months.

PortugalReception closes at 10 pm and guests need to use a side door to access the hotel, with nobody around to help. Felt a bit unsafe and wondering who would help me if something bad happened. Room too warm and no air conditioning. Not what you would expect from a 4 star.
Location is probably the best feature and also availability of car parking in the proximity. Staff at the reception were very kind.

SlovakiaRoom was disappointment. Mattress was too soft, blanket too weak. It was cold in the room. Personnel did not speak English. WiFi was not work on the 4th floor, I really could not imagine 4 star hotel without WIFI until my stay at Adelshof. I will not pick this hotel in the future for sure. That are the most positives, I was able to write.
Locality of the hotel was great

AustraliaWe had the misfortune to witness an all in abusive shouting match between the manager and a staff member. Other guests were there too and everyone was made very uncomfortable, this should never happen in front of guests. Other than that, we found the staff very good, especially the night desk staff.
Wonderful location, right on the market square, the historic heart of the city. The room in the old historic part of the hotel was stunning, spacious and beautifully furnished. Very good breakfasts and hotel carpark nearby.
